Yah Meek releases new LP 'Take Care'

The singer and songwriter known as Yah Meek has released his new LP reggae album, “Take Care.” The record has been released on the 77Step Records music label. It is comprised of eight original tracks for an approximate total playing time of half an hour. An upbeat, uplifting collection of Yah Meek’s best tracks from this period in his music career, “Take Care” is the most significant release from Yah Meek in recent history and stands as proof that the spirit of reggae is still alive and very much kicking.

Yah Meek cites as main artistic influences the likes of legends such as Bob Marley, Tracy Chapman, Stevie Wonder, and Micheal Jackson. He writes and performs all of his own music, which noble and highly successful trajectory was begun when he won a talent show in his community at age 14.

When asked to comment regarding the themes of his songs, many of which discuss Rastafarian principles and social concerns, Yah Meek speaks clearly and concisely.

“The album ‘Take Care,’” he writes, “is about taking care of ourselves, as well as of each other and the world we are living in.”

Yah Meek’s storied music career had him working with leading Roots artist Jahmali in the ’90s. He worked with Marlon B and Tricky Chris in Germany, and his first single, “The Riddim Global Youth” was released on Sony Music. The music video ran on VIVA and MTV, and placed on Top-10 radio
charts around the world. At about this time, Electrolux Records published Yah Meek’s “Open Your
Mind” and “Each One Teach One.”

Yah Meek toured Germany with Serious Dropout from Frankfurt, and in 1999 became part of the band Movements, with whom he performed at European festivals such as Summer Jam, Chiemsee Reggae
Summer, Sunsplash Wiesen, and Rock am Ring.

With the band Banned-X he released the album “Songs and Trax” in collaboration with other artists, on Multicolor Records. Yah Meek’s collaboration with Sékou from Freundeskreis followed, and his work with Rootsman produced his Roots and Culture track, “Beautyful World.”

Meek later became part of Söhne Mannheims in 2000 and toured with them throughout Europe. He also joined the Brothers Keepers Project against racism and released “Don’t know why” and “Never give up” on their two records.

Yah Meek recorded the track “Everything is Possible,” featuring Luciano, in 2002. It was re-released in 2005 as a 7’’ record on the Velocity Sounds music label. Yah Meek’s first solo album “Touched by an Angel” was released in march 2005, also on Velocity Sounds Records, for which Yah Meek received the German Reggae Award in the Best Album category. 2009 saw the release of his second album, “Things Change,” on Velocity.

2011 came to see the release of singles, “Summertime” on Freetime Records, and “Know Yourself,” feat. Uwe Banton. Yah Meek’s third album, “Sojourner,” was released in 2012, and features other Freetime Records artists such as Singing U, Bobo Niyah, Anthony Locks, Jennifer Washington, Mighty Tolga, Singing Gold, others.
