My, my, my. A & E done peed in the chili on this one. Did they not hear about the Chik Fil A thing? Did they not notice the ratings bonanza that is Duck Dynasty? Do they not think the same thing can happen to A & E that happened to Chik Fil A, only in reverse? Clearly, there wasn’t a whole lot of thinking, but a whole lot of reacting going on over there at GLAAD, but probably not so happy, happy, happy A & E this week.

Frankly, I have just been loving this whole drama. I don’t watch TV for the most part. When I do, I pre-record and cruise past all commercials when I get around to watching it. One of the very few shows I catch is Duck Dynasty, its a hoot. I can let my grandkids watch with no fear of anything inappropriate to my family’s way of being getting in there. This kind of true, decent, wholesome entertainment is more than lacking these days. Why do they think the darn ratings are through the roof to begin with? It’s because people prefer their family viewing to be that way. It’s just the opposite of something like Lady Gag Me & the Muppets. Ewww. Duh.

So now we have the GLAAD gang of bullies out there whining and bitching and moaning because they can’t tolerate an opinion that is different than their own. And A & E is “disappointed” in big bad Phil. Ha! Too funny. I have a feeling this is just the beginning for how “disappointed” good ‘ol A & E is going to be feeling over the next few days. Just the beginning. I know I will NOT be watching the  Duck Dynasty so-called marathon that A & E is still going to run. Of course they ARE still running it instead of canceling the whole thing. Why didn’t they do that? Do they think the rest of the Robertson clan feel much different? Oh! I see. It’s just not PC to say so. Barf. The real reason is they can’t turn down those duck bucks for something as trivial as free speech & tolerance of another’s lifestyle and beliefs. A & E doesn’t want to throw the duck out with the bath water. Well, they won’t be getting my viewing pleasure any time soon. It’ll be fun to watch the numbers, or maybe I should say the not watching numbers. Ha! Babies and bullies, that’s what I view here.

Here’s the thing. Tolerance is a two way street. This country used to be about the golden rule and growing respect for self and others. Acting with maturity, and being reasonable when trying to work out areas of conflict in beliefs, opinions, etc., like making compromises. All that and demonstrating true tolerance were goals. No more. We are much worse off because of that change, I view it as a weakening of character.

Well, Phil & family, this is how things work out. And you know as well as I do that “they” are going to have to deal with a whole lot of backlash from this. I think the big boat just made a little more of a wider turn. Shows you the power and skills of the Captain. (smile)
