The Three Types of People

A teacher shows three toys to a student and asks the student to figure out the differences. All three toys seem to be identical in their shape, size and material. After keen observation, the student noted holes in each of the toys. The first toy has holes in each of the ears. The second toy has a hole in one ear and a hole in the mouth. The third toy has only a single hole in one ear.

Then with the help of a sharp needle, the student puts the needle in one of the ear holes of first toy. The needle comes out from the hole on the other ear. In the second toy, when the needle was put in the one ear hole, the needle came out of the hole in the mouth. And in the third toy, when the needle was put in the single ear hole, the needle did not come out again.

The first toy represents those people around you who give an impression that they are listening to you, hearing all of the things important to you and that they care for you. But they are just pretending that they do. After listening, just like the needle comes out from the next ear, the things you said to them and counting on them to be there, are all gone. So be careful while you are speaking to this type of people all around you. They do not care for you.

The second toy represents those people who will listen to all your important things and give the impression that they care for you. But as in the toy, where the needle comes out from mouth, these people will take your things and use the words you tell them against you by telling these things to others and bringing out the confidential things to use for their own purpose.

The third toy is special, the needle does not come out once put in the hole of the ear. These types of people will keep your confidences and hold tight to the trust you have in them. They are the ones who you can always count on.

Moral: Always stay in the company of people who are loyal and trustworthy to you. Not all of the people who will listen to what you tell them are the ones you can count on when you need them the most.
