When I in awesome wonder…

When I became a Christian this was one of the first songs I listened to. I have discovered recently that there are many different versions of this song, but this is the one I remember best.

It has also been one of my go-to songs when the world starts to crowd in on me, or the whisperings of the devil invade my thoughts. I immediately begin to sing this song in my head and it breaks the hold the enemy has on my mind.

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, (Heb 1:1)

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; (Heb 1:2)

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. (Heb 11:3)

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:17)

Of course, the best thing I can do to remove any whisperers from my mind, and protect my person is to start reciting the word of God. I understand Psalm 23 is especially hated by the enemy, as it should be!

It always amazes me how the Creator of everything that is, and was, and ever will be, would take a personal interest in any individual; especially me.

But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? (Heb 2:6)

Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: (Heb 2:7)

And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: (Heb 1:10)

To think He would send His only begotten Son down here to die for us, who are so unworthy of anything at all. That through Him we might affect our eternal salvation and spend eternity in God’s Kingdom.

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. (Ps 8:5)

Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. (Ps 40:5)
