Tropical Cyclone Nilam made landfall at Mahaballipuram at about 4.30 pm today. Mahaballipuram is a town in Kancheepuram district in Tamil Nadu, India.

-The Depression over South Interior Karnataka has weakened into a well marked low pressure area (LPA).
-Cyclone Neelam also cloud Nepal’s sky. Although, the Nepali sky is overcast, there is no possibility of rains.

-Death toll from “Nilam” cyclone has risen to 11. The cyclone killed eight people in Tamil Nadu and three in Andhra Pradesh.
-Storm also destroyed more than 200 electric posts.

-Death toll from Cyclone Nilam has risen to 8.
-Cyclone effects are also felt in Bangalore.
-Rain or thundershowers are also expected in most places of south-interior Karnataka.

-A man killed in Puducherry. A 46-year old man slipped into the rough sea and drowned. This makes Cyclone Nilam death toll to two.
-Schools and colleges in Chennai have been closed since yesterday and will remain closed tomorrow. Chennai Law colleges exam has been postponed.

-One killed and six members of oil tanker are missing in Chennai coast.
-In Chennai, about 100 trees were uprooted due to the gusty winds.
-Southern Railways announced diversion and partial cancellation of trains.

-About 3,800 people evacuated in Mahaballipuram. Evacuated people are living in 19 relief camps.
-Danger signals ranging from seven to five have been issued at Chennai, Ennore, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, and Puducherry ports.
-Kalpakkam N-plant on alert as cyclone Nilam approaches. Chennai airport likely to be closed.
-According to Sri Lanka’s Disaster Management Center flood displaced around 4,627 people across the island nation. Two people were killed and 1,000 houses were destroyed. Sri Lanka on Monday evacuated people from its northern coast.
