Obama Sneers at Climate Activists

Climate activists marching in Washington, hopeful for government action to address carbon emissions, are like Ciocio-san in Madame Butterfly, waiting for her deceitful and fraudulent husband Pinkerton to return to what was only ever intended to be a temporary sham marriage of convenience (his convenience).  Meanwhile, Pinkerton/Obama is away in America/Florida where his heart really lies, wedding a proper Caucasian wife/playing golf with Texas oil barons.  Could he have chosen any way to telegraph a more deliberate mockery of the protest??  Even Pinkerton had the decency to feel a little abashed by his callous opportunism.  When Ciocio-san finally can no longer pretend to herself that Pinkerton was anything other than a faithless swindler, do you remember how it ends?  Here is a reminder (turn the volume down first, and then adjust it up):

The picture at the top of this post was found at an excellent Australian blog, called Hands Off Country.  Apparently the US is by no means the only place where fracking mania is ruining the environment.  The mere fact that countries are frantically exploiting the most dangerous and filthy sources of energy – mountaintop removal, tar sands, deep water and Arctic drilling – should be evidence that we have reached peak oil.  But unfortunately, there’s still plenty left to achieve near-total, if not total annihilation before we run out.  Sorry, kids.
