SHOCKING: ‘Carcasses Laying Around' in Navajo Country

Navajo people in an Arizona community where livestock carcasses are laying around are desperately needing water not tainted by uranium, an official said this week.
Navajo Chapter grazing official in Teec No Pos Herman Lee told the Navajo Post in an exclusive telephone interview this week that his community desperately needs water.
Lee claims that wells are shut down due to uranium contamination and that he has many pictures of dead horses and cattle “laying around.”

The right to water is a human right. The uranium industry violating that right is threatening lives of Navajos at Teec No Pos.
“The uranium is pretty much in the water now a-days,”Lee said. “That’s what we’re going to be pumping: uranium mixed with water. It’s pretty high you know.
“That’s the reason why we’re in this state now. The wells are dry, the barrels are dry.”
The community of Teec Nos Pos was placed under a drought warning earlier this month.
According to Council Delegate Kenneth Maryboy, local water wells were closed due to water contamination, essentially triggering a water shortage.
“We try not let this get out too far out of hand. We have plenty of carcasses out there now.
Lee said that he did not want this to become a health issue, but bacteria could become air borne and families are using the same water.
“Once that bacteria and everything else 9from the0 carcasses go air borne, we got a health issue,” he said.
“A lot of these families among here they, you know they, haul water and still use it.”
Lee said that officials are “trying to control that situation, too.”
Lee said that documentation of who tested the water cannot be found.
“This is just the start of it,” he said. “As long as we’re sitting on this uranium table, every well from here to Monument Valley is in the same situation we are.”
Teec Nos Pos Chapter President Alfred Jim, said earlier that they are still waiting on the Navajo Nation, San Juan County, and other agencies to respond, but that so far they are dissatisfied with the reaction time from leaders.
“We have to go through a lot of red tape and we can’t afford to do that,” Jim said. “We need to get water out there as soon as possible.”
Lawmaker Maryboy also called for water tanks. “We would like to get water tanks to haul water out there, but we need assistance,” said Delegate Maryboy in a press release. “We are open to any help that our community can get.”

This is clearly becoming yet another sacrifice zone, where sooner or later the people will have to move out, with taxpayer dollars. This is a tragedy for them, and a sign of things to come for all of us. People are being moved from the Big Energy-spawned “sinkhole” in Bayou Corne in South Louisiana, as reported by Ms. Dupre, and they will be moved from drought areas, contaminated areas, and areas made unlivable by climate change along the coasts and in our expanding deserts due to climate change. These are all due to our not taking into account the real cost of our energy gluttony and, more broadly speaking, our unsustainability due to increasing population size and per capita consumption of renewable and non-renewable resources.
The vast majority of economists, many of them Nobel Prize winners (like Obama!) bought into the practice of ignoring true costs of unsustainable behavior, and gluttonous corporations, government, and zombie consumers eagerly followed suit. As a culture, we deserve what we will get, but as human individuals, we all deserved better from our “leaders.” We were brainwashed by the media and our mentors, but ultimately the responsibility for doing our homework still lies with us. That statement ignores the fact that your informed vote is being overwhelmed by a dumbed down electorate who is being manipulted. They allow all sorts of behavior which typify sacrafice zone behavior. For example, we have alllowed hundreds of nuclear reactor sites which store dangerous levels of spent fuel rods on the property, even though these sites are dependant upon a fragile grid to avoid a meltdown. That’s just one example, there are hundreds of examples of a government caputured by short term profits allowing long term dangers to mount.

Then Again – I cannot reply to your superb comment below for some reason, but wanted you to know I truly appreciate your opinion about climate change and sinister manmade causes, namely by our own military. Weather warfare is real. We all know after the past couple of weeks, thanks to Edward Snowden, that our government with our military (the chemical-military-complex) is engaged in targeting every single one of us. What’s being published about that is only the tip of the iceberg. Celebrate the 4th? its not shocking… its what americans do.. destroy everything they come in contact with.
All they have is the picture of one dead animal. We don’t know why it died or what the uranium levels are in the water. I’m not buying it.
They should invest in ZeroWater water filters. They come with a TDS meter that reads Total Dissolved Solids in the water. Idealy you want the TDS meter to read 0. They could also rig up a filter with charcoal. They could make a biosand filter. If they’re going to keep living there, they should come up with a local solution and pass down knowledge of it from generation to generation.
Clearly we need a way to decontaminate the water.
One thing you can use is the absorption spectrum of uranium oxide and phosphate bonds (I think), which when used to modulate an electrical field, will encourage those bonds to be made, and if you supply the phosphates, I think this will pull the uranium out of the water…
But a good water filter would probably do the trick (the multi-stage filters with reverse osmosis should allow ONLY H2O through).
