Fukushima Radiation Debris His US In 2014--Fukushima And BP Continue To Cause Health Problems video and pictures

When things fall off the hyper-news cycle, don’t assume the problem is over. Ongoing health and environmental problems with Fukushima-poisoned oceans and BP-contaminated seafood, oceans, waterways and soils  continue  to sicken people worldwide. From contaminated fish, radiation poisoned fish and seafood,  to mutagenic chemicals in soils and water, humans around the world sicken, and even die.

Two stories, one out of New Orleans regarding oil spill clean up workers and the other out the US west coastshow that just because some stories have fallen off the corporate news blotter, doesn’t mean they have gonr away.

Thousands of oil field clean up workers who worked to clean up the BP oil gush–I refuse to call it a spill–are coming down with respiratort and skin ailments, thanks to their exposure to crude oil and dispersants that got on their skind, and fumes that they breathed.

Shunichi Tanaka, head of Japan’s Nuclear Regulation Authority, told reportersradioactive water has likely been leaking into the Pacific Ocean since the disaster hit. It’s the largest single contribution of radionuclides to the marine environment ever observed, according to one report. With 300 tons of contaminated water pouring into the sea every day, Japan’s government finally acknowledged the urgency of the situation in September. MOREHERE

In the Pacific, marine creatures are experiencing strange diseases which may be Fukushima related. Marine life is coming down with strange diseases, leaving us to wonder what kind of environmental catastrophy is growing out of sight, deep on the oceans.

In Japan, contaminated seafood, water and soil continue to wreak havoc on the people, oceans–and soil.  ”Experts” are minimizing radiation-generated genetic damage to humans. 

They also say it will take several years after the initial event   for the oceanic radiation plume from Fukushimato to hit the West Coast, with sea-borne contamination hitting the US west coast in 2014. Some scientists say the amount of radiation reaching the US in 2014 will be negligable, but atmospheric radiation has aleady circled the globe 22 times since the event.

It will take about three years from the time of the incident for the radiation plume to reach the West Coast, which would be early next year. Recent testing of migratory fish, including tissue samples collected from Pacific bluefin tuna caught off the California coast, assessed radiation levels and potential effects on marine food webs far away from Japan. Trace amounts of radioisotopes from the Fukushima plant were found, although the best available science puts them at levels below those naturally occurring in the environment around us. Natural, or background radiation, is found in many sources, including food items, medical treatments and air travel.

Now, let’s take a look at another horrendous envi5omental catastrophe. BP’s clean up workers are suffering from  a high incidence of respiratory and skin problms, according to a reserarch study. 

A Columbia University report based on a survey taken following the 2010 massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico indicates a high rate of respondents suffered from respiratory and skin problems following the spill. The survey found that 40 percent of residents of the Gulf Coast reported experiencing these health complications as a result of the spill, with many indicating they had experienced direct exposure to crude oil during cleanup efforts.  MOREHERE

Sources say many of the clean up workers have no access to compensation funds if they have long term clean up related illness which cropped up AFTER the clean up:

 …funds set aside for compensating those who were injured or sustained damages after the initial spill are not available for those who were part of cleanup crews. The situation is even harder for individuals who were not able to afford needed medical treatment, and saw their conditions worsen over time.  MOREHERE
 

Now, years after the fact, we continue to see skin, respiratory and other illness still cropping up, still sickening former clean up workers. Now, let’s head to the West Coast, where a mysterious star fish illness is causing their limbs to blacken and drop off.

The Fukushima radiation has circled the global winds at least 22 times, and continues to contaminate the Pacific Ocean. What horrors does this radiation create deep in the world’s oceans. And what is it doing to the food chain?

Even now, much of the radiation-contaminated soil and debris is stored in Japan.

Most of the contaminated soil and leaves remain piled up in driveways and empty lots because of fierce opposition from local communities to storing it in one place until the Ministry of Environment secures a central site that could hold it for the longer term. MOREHERE

If they have a choice in the matter, people don’t want polluted, radiation debris and contaiminated so and material stored in thei back yard.  Unfortunately, in many cases, we don’t have a choice. The stuff is in our air, soil and water and is headed our way.

This is one of a possible future fot the Fukushima catastrophe. As you see, it is a decades long process. And it doesn’t address the global, enviomental contaminatioon–poisoned oceans and marine life.

2014 Workers begin to remove debris using remotely controlled robots. Tokyo Electric has already purchased some industrial demolition robots to tear down irradiated buildings. Contractors extended the 4300-pound robots’ range, added video cameras, and hardened them against radiological contamination. “High fields of gamma radiation can cause plastics and electronic chips to degrade,” says Lake Barrett, who from 1980 to 1984 supervised the cleanup at Three Mile Island for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. 

2015 Workers use newly invented chemical sealants to plug holes in areas of the plant flooded with radioactive water. They drain the water from the reactor building and employ custom-made underwater robots to collect debris from inside the spent-fuel pools. 

2016 A cover for the reactor building is installed to enclose the space. Additional video cameras monitor teleoperated work inside the reactor and turbine buildings, which are drained and repaired. 

2022 Removal of the fuel rods from the damaged reactors begins. The rods have melted and fallen apart, complicating the cleanup. MOREHERE

2030 and Beyond The last of the fuel is removed from the reactor buildings. Demolition crews then dismantle the entire facility, a process that takes decades
