The recent massive protests in Ukraine have shown the power inherent in organized civil disobedience. Previously, Ukrainian activists have adopted a number of clever methods for political action, including nudity and humor; but now for their non-violent demonstrations they are utilizing an even more powerful tool, a simple mirror.

The beautiful simplicity in just holding up a mirror to reflect the image of police officers back to themselves is a creative and revolutionary gesture. This peaceful mirror protest act not only clearly shows each uniformed individual how their specific behavior looks, and encourages introspection before lashing out in hateful violence, it also highlights the unique humanity that we all share.
