“WE ARE NOW EXPERIENCING A CENTURY-CLASS SOLAR MINIMUM” — DR TONY PHILLIPS
On getting colder, today Sun 20 Sept 2020 set lots of cold weather records in the Northeast, frost arriving 3-4 weeks early. It is even felt in the D.C. area, reported here http://coolwx.com/record/ Note the cold records US, warm records in Africa better for growing crops.
Last week I reported on a possible connection
between the Jan 2010 Fl Everglades Million fish kill freeze
with TWO Record 30 days or longer of no sunspots in the immediate prior years.
Chart here: http://sidc.be/silso/spotless# Periods with spotless days (>30 days) since 1849
31 Days 21st July 2008-20 Aug 2008
32 Days 31 July 2009-31 Aug 2009
Note these records have not been seen since prior to
1944, 1934, 1933 or before.
The current stretch compares best
with the 1901-2 & 1912-13 cycles.
TODAY WE SET A NEW RECORD!!!
In the top ten - 40 days 14 Nov 2019 to 23 Dec 2019 then
34 days 2 Feb 2020 to 6 Mar 2020
30 days 21 Aug (?) to 20 Sept 2020
Note the 2008-09 cycle had TWO 30+ stretches,
now 2019-20 cycle has THREE 30+ stretches.
THREE PERIODS OF 30+ DAYS of NO SUN SPOTS
IS UNPRECEDENTED IN OUR LIFETIMES!!!
NOW see this chart of the top 25 spotless years since 1849 which backs up what I concluded above before I looked carefully at it.
http://sidc.be/silso/spotless# Top 25 of years with most number of spotless days since 1849
Note 2008-09-19 take three of the TOP SIX YEARS
with years1878-1902-1913 taking the top three spots of periods of NO Sunspot Days.
STAY WARM!!!
Correction: The 1996 Period was overlooked in the above report!
“The table above shows all periods with 30 or more consecutive spotless days. The period from 14 November 2019 till 23 December 2019 is one of the longer ones since the beginning of daily solar observations in 1849, making it all the way in the Top 10. A slightly longer period in recent history occurred during the SC22-SC23 transition, from 13 September 1996 till 24 October 1996, when the Sun was spotless for 42 consecutive days. One of the longest spotless periods (since 1818) is probably from 24 October 1822 till 12 March 1823 (140 days!), but unfortunately, the series are broken on 29 December 1822 (no observation available for that day).” http://sidc.be/silso/spotless# Periods with spotless days (>30 days) since 1849

It’s already started in NC. The South has been extra cold now for a decade.
Yes, that is just about the length of the 4th LOWEST in number of sunspots Cycle #24!
Thanks for letting us know about this data that is very real to you from your viewpoint!

Winter of 2020-21 should be hardest modern man has ever experienced.
In Jan 2010 it became cold enough in South Florida to kill 1 Million fish in the Everglades.
I personally had 100 dead fish up to 30 inches in front of my mobile home (not very mobile..lol)
in the http://www.royalpalmmarina.com It was an amazing site, stunning me.
So preceding the Jan 2010 there were two 30 plus day stretches without sunspots,
one in Aug 2009, and one in Aug 2008.
So if it was that cold then, how cold is it going to get now?
As we have NOT 2, BUT 3 (THREE) stretches of 30 Plus days without sunspots in the prior year.
One was 14 Nov-Dec 23 2019, in the top 10, another 2 Feb-6 Mar 2020, another not even in the record books
yet ending last month.
