When this question was posed to the Irish Junior Finance Minister Brian Hayes, this was his response:
Q: Where has all the money gone?

Brian Hayes: Well, this a very good question.
Q: Don’t we at least have the right to know for whom we do it? Who are the beneficiaries of all this money?
Brian Hayes: Yeah, but I don’t think that is the point, with respect, I don’t think that is the point, I don’t think you can ignore this point, if the policy is foisted on the public and effectively we were not in a position to fund ourselves and that was the majority view of the ECB, who they are and who they are not is not really relevant to the substantial point that the Irish public had to pick up the bill.
Brian may think that it is not the point but, it is the question that was asked.

Brian says that you can not ignore this point but, that is exactly what he and his government have done.

Another whitewash response to a direct question.
When Jorg Asmussen, a member of the Executive Board of the ECB was asked the same question, his response was:
He would have no problem if the process of paying Bondholders and who they are was more transparent, but the situation today is that Regulators are virtually powerless to push for it.
If the ECB Executive Board has no issue with transparency, why do Regulators have to push for it?
