At what point will looking out your window be a crime, as reality conflicts with what you are to think? Links 2 on June 29 – 2015

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

1. Video on terror plots foiled in the US for 2015.

2. Egyptian top prosecutor dies of injuries sustained by Islamic State attack

(Perhaps Egypt will take the swift and decisive action Western nations do not)

Egypt’s top prosecutor Hisham Barakat died from injuries sustained in a Cairo bomb attack on Monday, the first successful assassination attempt against a state official since an upswing in violence following the 2013 ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi.

Barakat suffered ruptures to the nose and left shoulder, and internal bleeding in the lungs and stomach, health ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar told Ahram Online. He had been taken to the operating room at Al-Nozha hospital in Heliopolis, where he succumbed to his injuries hours after the attack.

Nine people, including two drivers, one civilian and five members of the security forces, were injured when a bomb hit the prosecutor’s convoy near the military academy in Heliopolis, Abdel-Ghaffar said.

(Weather in Egypt, smokey with a 60% chance of high reaching flames and occasional extremely loud noises)

3. UN corruption so viceral, Nepal demands substandard emergency rations be destroyed in front of witnesses in order to guarantee non-redistribution.

(The UN has become another trough for corrupt bureaucrats)

Nepal’s Food Technology and Quality Control Department said laboratory tests of some rice and pulse samples showed they were “unfit for human consumption”.

That included more than 500 tonnes of split peas stored in Nepalgunj in the southwest of the country, and 6 tonnes of rice in Laprak, a village in the badly-hit central Gorkha district.

[…]But Uttam Kumar Bhattarai, a senior Agriculture Ministry official, said the damaged food must be destroyed in front of witnesses from the local authorities.

“Replacement means you are taking the substandard food back which could be distributed elsewhere,” Bhattarai said. “So this should be destroyed.”

He said if WFP did not destroy the food then government authorities would do it.

(When Nepal starts spanking the UN like that you know it has outlived its stated purpose)

4. Boko Haram militants raped hundreds of female captives in Nigeria

DALORI (Nigeria): Hundreds of women and girls captured by Boko Haram have been raped, many repeatedly, in what officials and relief workers describe as a deliberate strategy to dominate rural residents and possibly even create a new generation of Islamist militants in Nigeria.

In interviews, the women described being locked in houses by the dozen, at the beck and call of fighters who forced them to have sex, sometimes with the specific goal of impregnating them.

(People need to stop using the term ‘marriage’ to refer to someone muttering a few words over a slave to ritualize the rape of that person the same way they need to stop translating allah as God)

5. Event protesting censorship in arts censored over fears of offending guess who

A New York City arts center has canceled a planned event intended to protest censorship after one of the scheduled plays, “‘Mohammed’ Gets A Boner,” was deemed too offensive to Muslims.

“Playwrights for a Cause” was scheduled to be held at the Sheen Center for Thought and Culture on June 14, and was supposed to feature four short plays about censorship in art. In addition, revenue from the event was supposed to benefit the National Coalition Against Censorship. Instead, the entire event has been canceled.

“‘Mohammed’ Gets A Boner” incidentally is a one-man performance by screenwriter Neil LaBute, written specifically for the event. Its description makes it clear the play is intended to shock:

The prophet “Mohammed” stands on a barren stage, recalling the first time he made love to a white woman. Is this reality or a theatrical convention? Where do the lines between ‘satire’ and ‘censorship’ intersect or is nothing sacred when it comes to the theater?

Not only is the play being canceled, but some media outlets have been wary of even naming the play. The New York Times, which first reported the story, calls it “a new play … with a title making reference to ‘Mohammed.’”

6. Cameron tells BBC to stop using ‘Islamic State’ to describe the ‘barbarous’ terror group threatening the British way of life

(And this is why there should never be a state broadcaster, and why the BBC and CBC should be broken up and sold off to private Canadian broadcasters along with all other state mouthpieces)

David Cameron today called on the BBC not to use the phrase ‘Islamic State’ when referring to the terror group operating in Iraq and Syria.

The Prime Minister – who calls the group ‘ISIL’ – said Muslims would ‘recoil’ at the phrase being used to justify the ‘perversion of a great religion’.

He insisted that the battle against extremists targeting Britons around the world can be won but will require ‘extraordinary resolve and patience’.

Prime Minister David Cameron said Muslims would ‘recoil’ at the phrase being used to justify the ‘perversion of a great religion’

Gunman Seifeddine Rezgui targeted tourists at the Tunisian beach resort of El Kantaoui near Sousse on Friday morning, killing 38 people including up to 30 British tourists.

(Many polls show a majority of muslims approve of the Islamic State, its actions and its people. Cameron is attempting to use the impossible strategy of lying to muslims and hoping they buy it)

Thank you Richard, M., GoV., and all. More to come.
