does get knocked off then it’s by his own people or he wants to take time out to spend his bribe money living it

The reason the S400 was turned off is because Russia had already won the ground war, currently it is having Turkey attack the Kurdish separatists even though they are ISIS sponsors. The Enemy of my Enemy is my friend, plus getting through the Dardanelles and supplying Syria becomes all but impossible if they cut off the links (remember Yugoslavia and the Russian paratroopers unable to land in Serbia). Russia could have invaded Turkey over the downing of its SU-24 Jet in 2015 as an act of war. If it was the US Turkey would now be crispy critters, Russia is operating by its own rules, most of which we know nothing about.
Putin is playing a winning game of chess because the west is playing checkers, what may come out of this is no Kurdistan and an larger Turkey with a NATOless Turkey, eventually Turkey will surround itself with enemies enough for Russia to invade and take back Istanbul.
