What Is The Truth About South African History?

TAP, I’ve had this on the back burner for ages and still not completed even brief notes; it’s hours! I’m posting now, completed notes or not…

At college / university we had a Mandela Union Bar. At the time I thought little about it. It had a pool table and that was great. History was dull at school. Had they investigated ‘real, true’ history, I suspect my curiosity would have been greater. Today, the history possibilities online are endlessly curious making. It does seem there is a possibility Mandela was not the perfect peace maker I was led to believe. These are apparently controversial issues to explore. I hold no set belief about Mandela or anyone else, but it it interesting to be aware of merry dances down misleading paths we may have taken. Dutch East India Company opened a refreshment station.
1652
No blacks in South Africa. Only small little short light skinned indigenous bush tribe called the Koy Koy – Men of men. Traded with Dutch trading station, vegetables for beef.
British took over Cape Colony 100 years later.
Religious Dutch travelled north and north east.
1838 Boers defeated Zulus….
