The Great Fire Of London

I’m sitting watching the event on t.v. I am trying to work out how this is possible. I spent 25 years going up and down every tower block in Edinburgh and find it inconceivable that this could happen.

Tower blocks are concrete, austere structures and very little can go on fire. Improvements have been made over the years to combustible materials. For example old wooden doors replaced with composite fire doors etc.

It means fire can be compartmentalized and slowed down considerably (not eliminated).

I’ve seen electrical fires in houses, stairs etc. I’ve seen a motorbike driven into a block and set alight. I’ve seen palladiin bins lit and everything else in between.

Therefore, the idea the whole block alight within minutes seems very strange.

I couldn’t help thinking of the great fire of London though.

It is a sad indictment that ones first thought is suspicion and despite what the news may report, feel a little uneasy about the event.

A final thought. Sir Christopher Wren submitted his plans at the end of August 1666. A week later……….

TAP – If this was an op, it is absolutely outrageous.  Many died.    It seems like it’s coming in a string of other events.
