Over Zealous COP arrests PARENT for picking up kids at school?

When did it become illegal for a parent to pick up their children early from school, and or to enter the school to resolve conflict. There should be some form of legal recourse, the parent Jim Howe should file a law suit against this deputy, regardless of his superior officers defense of the incident claiming the officer was “only doing his job”. If you are outraged, this is just the beginning. There are laws that allow the government to sieze your children as if they were vehicles or homes in a narcotics operation.

The father wasn’t doing anything illegal, and as a matter of fact his decision to go into the school to pick up his kids was after school hours and he made the decision to go into the school after being fed up with waiting in a long line of traffic when he was met with adverse reaction from Deputy Sherriff Avery Aytes. The father whose name was Jim Howe insisted he was not being confrontational, nor was he raising his voice, and that all he wanted was his kids. Howe’s fiance Amanda Long was responsible for shooting the video once Howe ended up in an altercation with the school’s security officer.

According to Howe, there was a new policy passed by the school board one week prior that stated that the only way a parent can “pick up” their child after 2p.m. is to wait in a long line of traffic that is not only time consuming, but also illegal. The policy states that the parents will have to wait in a long line of traffic to pick up their children at 2:35 once they are actually released from school. This is an inconvenience to parents and children, as some parents still have places of employment. Not to mention, the idea that a parent would be denied the ability to pick up their children, even if it is early is indicative that the state believes they are the parent of the child now, as opposed to the actual parent.

Deputy Aytes superior officer hass a neutral position on the issue, as he states that if a parent has a problem with the school policies, that parent or parents should address these issues with the policy makers. Burgess Cumberland County Sherriff says even though he agrees with Howe on a matter of principal, this issue should not be met with discernment for the school resource officer. Burgess also agrees to address the policy, and the complications that need to be changed, and make those recommendations of change for the new policy.

“On the other hand, the school system needs to realize you can’t make a black and white law,” Burgess said.

“If not for policy, we would have chaos, and we don’t need chaos at the schools, but we also don’t need an over zealous deputy setting an example in front of kids,” said Howe.
