Fantasy Football Outlook: Over the three drafts the 49ers have had since Jim Harbaugh has been with the team San Francisco has drafted Kendall Hunter, LaMichael James and Marcus Lattimore.

It’s the addition of Lattimore that makes me wonder whether Gore will be with the team after 2013, but the veteran running back is signed through 2014 so consider it likely he will stay with the team, through his contract. Gore may not end up going to the Hall of Fame but I wouldn’t be surprised if his jersey is hanging in the stadium because he’s ment that much to the franchise.

Expect Hunter and James to work in some type of committee with Gore but we should expect his numbers to remain somewhere around what we’ve seen in the past two seasons. The 49ers will remain a run first team as Colin Kaepernick continues to develop and deal with not having his star receiver Michael Crabtree.

That makes Gore a RB2 in all leagues and I like him as a 3rd round pick in leagues as deep as 12-teams.

Summer of 2012: Fantasy Projections

Until his holiness Jim Harbaugh came to town, 49ers fans like myself thought for sure we would never see the day, Frank Gore would find the playoffs. Fortunately we were wrong, but sadly he looked to be out of his prime as a runner by the time they got there.

Gore is one of my favorite players in the league, I love his heart, dedication to his craft and envy how smooth and intelligent he is on the football field. If adversity makes or breaks, Gore has clearly made the most out of an unfortunate college career as he tore both ACL’s down in Miami.

All that said, Gore will be in a reduced role this season as it appears San Fransisco will go with more of a committee, with Kendall Hunter, LaMichael James and unfortunately Brandon “loud mouth” Jacobs (please cut his a$$) this year.

Look for Gore to still be an effective player on the field, but with a reduction in snaps, he should be viewed as a RB3 on draft day. Even Gore’s reception total took a big fall off last year and with James and Hunter around, the 49ers will likely pull the veteran on third downs.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections

Frank Gore has managed to have a solid career even though the 49ers haven’t found the playoffs in his five years as the feature back. Last year was supposed to be a big season for Gore as the 49ers were the odds on favorite to run away with the NFC Western Division Title but San Francisco was clearly not up to the challenge. A ridiculously predictable offensive play calling and problems with getting the plays sent in on time forced Coach Mike Singletary to fire his offensive coordinator, three weeks into the season.

Through it all Gore continued to find a way to remain a productive running back for fantasy football once again, but a hip injury cost him the rest of the season with a month left to play. Gore had surgery and so far so good, as Gore is reportedly 100% recovered from the injury as we head into the summer.

Finally Gore will have an offensive minded Head Coach for the first time in his career with Jim Harbaugh coming over from Stanford. The 49ers still have some solid pieces around Gore as their offensive line will continue to get better, with their two first round selection from the 2010 draft, now having a year of playing time under their belt.

With Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree and Josh Morgan in the passing game, projected starter Alex Smith or even rookie Colin Kaepernick will have playmakers to keep the offense moving. Throw in that Gore plays in the weakest division in football, and you still have a great situation for Gore to find success.

Heading into the summer Gore’s ADP value on Mock Draft Central check in as the 12th running back (15.35 average select) taken in standard redraft leagues and 12th best (17.15 average) in PPR leagues, as well. I find it interesting that Gore’s values is actually lower in PPR mock drafts, because he’s good for around 50 receptions a year.

Assuming Gore goes through the summer without any setbacks, he is a great second round selection and a quality No.2 running back to have one your fantasy roster this season.

2010 Preview

Frank Gore has the best group of players around him since 2006 when he broke out with a huge season. Expect the 49ers to give the Cardinals everything they can handle in the West this season. With a competitive team, Gore is ready for a big year.

2010 Fantasy Football Outlook

2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Frank Gore got off to another hot start as in week two he had two touchdowns from around 80 yards out against the Seahawks. Unfortunately in that game he hurt his ankle and further injured it the next week against the Vikings.

This cost Gore a couple of weeks, but he rebounded late in the season and finished off his year strong with 13 total touchdowns.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: The 49ers were our pick to win the NFC West even before the NFL draft and now with key offensive line additions in tackle Anthony Davis and big left guard Mike Iupati, we love (ok, I will admit it, I’m a 49ers fan) this team.

Beyond personal bias, it is clear to see that Frank Gore is set up to be the fourth best fantasy running back to select in this years fantasy drafts. Just go back and look at Gore’s numbers in 2006, when he had a strong offensive line.

Now, Gore not only has a potential great line for years, but he has the kind of pass game that defenses will have to respect.

To top it all off Gore gets to play in the NFC West and plays the AFC West this season. That gives him the 4th easiest schedule against the run. Draft Gore and enjoy the inconvenient true all year.
