2013 Experience: 2nd Season

Fantasy Football Outlook: As soon as the Dolphins failed to bring back Reggie Bush, it seemed to be a given that Miller would start come week one. Through OTA’s Miller appears to be on track for the starting role, despite the team still having former second-round pick Daniel Thomas and drafting Mike Gillislee this spring.

While Miller will likely be the starter and go as high as a RB2 in many leagues this summer we won’t know if he can handle a full load until the season begins. Can Miller handle over 20 carries one week, come back for a full practice and do it again the next week at a high level? We will find out, but I think he can in the system he will play in.

Having upgrades in the passing game for Ryan Tannehill makes me feel good about the Dolphins odds to sustain drives and play competitive football most weeks. That’s important because it will keep the running game on schedule to run the football throughout games, giving Miller an opportunity to be a consistent producer.

Let’s keep a close eye on Miller through the preseason, but he has the skill and situation to justify taking as a low-end RB2 on draft day, but I would like him as more of a flex-play option because if he can’t handle the full load it will be easy for his coaches to give other runners more looks in the offense.
