Fantasy Football Outlook: If you look at how pathetic the Colts quarterback situation was in 2011, it was easy to predict Wayne return as a top 20 receiver in fantasy leagues with Andrew Luck under center.
While offensive coordinator Bruce Arians is gone, Luck will have his old coach from Stanford to run the offense. Expect Indianapolis to get second-year players, T.Y. Hilton, Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen more involved this season, but I still like Wayne to haul in at least 90 receptions.
Not sure whether Wayne will make the Hall of Fame but he’s a true pro and understands what it takes to keep his body healthy throughout a season and the little nuances to gain separation against a defender. That last part is important as much like Anquan Boldin, even if we see Wayne’s skills diminish, it’s his savvy ability that will keep him productive over time.
Wayne’s days as a WR1 option are over but he’s still a worthy WR2 with Luck and if he should fall to you as a WR3 because various people in your league because he’s getting older and some of the young bucks in the offense could hurt him, take advantage and swoop him up.

Summer of 2012: Fantasy Projections
Like the Colts as a team, Reggie Wayne has a long season, but he finished well. Early in the offseason the common thought was that Wayne was likely to sign wherever Peyton Manning decided to go, but instead he threw a curve ball and resigned in Indianapolis.
While Wayne is in the final years of his career, I believe he’s primed for a much better season with Andrew Luck on the team.
Current ADP trends have Wayne sliding down to the 29th receiver off the board, and that makes him a WR3 value. Likely, I will have Wayne a good five to ten spots higher on our receiver rankings, but if you can get him as a third receiver, consider that a great value.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
No matter how many young receivers seem to come into the Colts organization Reggie Wayne still tops the list and makes it back to the top ten receivers for fantasy football leagues. While I’m concerned about Waynes touchdown total two of the past three seasons (6 tds in those years) he’s clearly racking up larger reception and yardage totals, and that keeps him as a No.1 receiver value.Don’t expect Wayne to total 111 receptions again this season as the Colts were down to a short list of pass catchers in the second half of the season due to injuries and Peyton Manning had to look Wayne’s way more often. Still, Wayne is the top dog in this offense and if Dallas Clark and Austin Collie can stay on the field, Wayne may see his touchdown total rise up once again.
8/12 Update - It’s time to be a little concerned about Wayne’s production as Peyton Manning isn’t a sure thing to be on the field for week one. It should take Manning some time to bounce back to his old self, even when he’s back, so drop Wayne just outside the top ten on your list.

2010 Preview
Reggie Wayne is still Manning’s top receiver but this year he could see a slide in production. With so many targets to throw to, look for Manning to spread the football around, thus giving Wayne fewer opportunities for production.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Reggie Wayne posted another top ten effort for fantasy receivers as he is still Peyton Manning’s favorite target. When Manning needs a key reception or touchdown often times Wayne seems to be the player that gets an opportunity to shine.
No more was this truer that when Manning connected with Wayne in the end zone to beat the Patriots in one of the better clashes between these dynasty’s.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: For all of Wayne’s success I can’t help but feel his numbers will fall back to his 2008 totals. Those numbers were respectable as he totaled 82 receptions for over 1,100 yards and six touchdowns, but those aren’t exactly the numbers you expect from you best fantasy receiver.
With Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie having a year of playing under their belts, they should be ready to take on more work in the offense. Couple their production with the return of Anthony Gonzalez and the Colts now have four solid receivers to throw to. Oh yeah, and they still have a tight end by the name of Dallas Clark, and he’s not that bad as well.
With so many quality options in the passing game, look for Manning to spread the football around more. This will make it difficult for Wayne to total 100 receptions and close to double digit touchdowns.
