Fantasy Football Outlook: I’ll never forget that day it happened. I had my finger on the trigger for a big dynasty trade which included Brown as one of my prized additions, when I saw him catch a touchdown pass in the end zone against the Cowboys and a defender fell on his ankle and snapped it.

Kid you not, that’s exactly what happened and while I pulled my finger back from the clicker on my mouse as Brown was carted off the field, a day later I decided to do the deal anyway. That’s how much I like this guy as I was willing to wait a season just to keep him on my team in the future.

If you read Matt Waldman’s RSP Portfolio every year you can go back to when Brown came into the league and know he’s a precise route runner with good hands. While Brown may not have the height of Vincent Jackson or Malcom Floyd, he uses his frame well against a defender to shield his foe away from the ball and make a reception.

Not sure whether Brown or Keenan Allen will be the eventual No.1 receiver to target for fantasy leagues out of San Diego in a few years from now, but I like Brown as the top possession man this year. Danario Alexander will likely go as the top receiver from this team in 2013, and with good reason, but expect defense to treat him different than last year.

Alexander saw the No.2 corner and single coverage most of the time and he will likely face the No.1 receiver and possibly double coverage at times, if coordinators opt to take it off Antonio Gates.

Brown should have the same situation Alexander enjoyed a season ago and I believe he will catch over 80 receptions if he wins a starting job to begin the season. Keep an eye on this situation and I do like his odds of winning that job because he’s a talented young player and the organization knows it.

Going as the 50th receiver off the board as of OTA’s, Brown is a sleeper to remember at the receiver position in the later rounds of your draft, especially in PPR leagues.
