2013 10-Team Mock Draft Results: 14th Round

A straight sweep of kickers in the 14th round and while I find it funny that every team went with the same position, I find it to be legit as it appeared every owner was still active in the mock draft throughout.

Overall I have no problem with the names who went off the board and I would recommend you look to the first five options that went of the board as the top kickers to target on draft day.

131. Stephen Gostkowski, NE – Gostkowski could receive an uptick in opportunities while Rob Gronkowski is out of the lineup, but I would go for Blair Walsh as the top kicker for fantasy leagues.

132. Blair Walsh, MIN - Walsh is already one of the better kickers in the league and has earned the trust of the coaching staff to attempt field goals over 50-yards out. Expect big things again from the second-year kicker and he is a matchup proof option on a team that will give him over 35 attempts this season.

133. Matt Bryant, ATL - A career year made Bryant one of the better kickers for fantasy leagues in 2012. Playing on a winning team in a dome, Bryant should have another productive season and will be one of the early kickers off the board in fantasy drafts.

134. Matt Prater, DEN – Prater has an advantage when playing at home for the long field-goal opportunities because of the thin air in Denver. Playing on the team with perhaps the best offense in football, we should expect a productive year from the Broncos kicker.

135. Greg Zuerlein, STL – There is only one kicker in football that can challenge Sebastian Janikowski for the best leg in the NFL and that is Zuerlein. Big upside, I have no problem with you taking Zuerlien and starting him weekly on a team that has a chance to make the playoffs.

The Rams were competitive in every game in the division and beat the 49ers and Seahawks at home. Unlike the times when Josh Brown was kicking in St. Louis, the team will be in every football game giving him consistent opportunities to kick field goals.

136. Sebastian Janikowski, OAK – Great leg but I would pass on Janikowski as my fantasy kicker in 2013 because the Raiders are going to be one of the worst teams in the league. Don’t expect them to play in a lot of close football games and the kicking game could be out of the picture before halftime, often.

137. Justin Tucker, BAL - A respectable kicker for fantasy, I’m a little concerned the Ravens will struggle on offense without Dennis Pitta and Anquan Boldin. Factor in they have a rebuilt defense and Baltimore could find themselves playing from behind more than many think this summer.

138. Phil Dawson, SF - A terrific situation for Dawson but don’t expect him to get the field-goal opportunities over 50-yards like David Akers received when he was in town. That said, Dawson is likely to receive over 40 attempts this season so he’s a worthy low-end starter in fantasy leagues.

139. David Akers, DET - It all depends on Akers health if he’s going to be a good kicker or not. When healthy Akers will be a top ten kicker in Detroit but we need to keep an eye on his performance in the preseason.

140. Dan Bailey, DAL - Not a fan of Bailey as a starting kicker, but the Cowboys will put points up with a good offense. I just feel like they will be playing from behind more than you would like to see, for your kicker to have consistent opportunities weekly.
