Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 5

Another really good week in Week 4! We didn’t hit on everything but Justin Fields, my featured start of week, had his best performance of the year. Fields completed 28 of 35 passes for 335 passing yards, 4 passing TD’s, 25 rushing yards on 4 attempts and lost one fumble. Depending on the scoring in your league this should be either 27.9 or 28.9 points. To be completely honestly not in your wildest dreams did I think fields would have the game through the air that he did. I figured he was going to carve this defense up with his legs. Yet, he only had a mind boggling 4 rushing attempts, nonetheless we will gladly take the points!

My sit of the week, Garrett Wilson, managed to have himself a pretty good game if you play in full PPR. Wilson saw a game-high 14 targets and caught 9 of them for just 60 yards. This would of course be 15 points in full PPR, 10.5 in .5 PPR, or 6 in standard ( who the hell still plays that). As a sit he definitely was a success since the amount of receptions he totaled but some good did come from this. Zach Wilson looked fantastic and somehow outplayed Mahomes. He looked confident, was letting it rip like we finally wanted him to and focused in on Garrett. So you can do one of two things here. You can sell the fact that the Jets O-line looks much improved and Zach may have started to turn a corner; helping you acquire a bit more in return for Garrett in a trade. Or you can hold onto him after seeing this encouraging performance overall from the offense and how often Zach looked for Garrett.

Week 5 Start ’em Breece Hall – Jets RB

The time has come folks!! Breece the Beast is finally off his snap count heading into week 5. Yes, that means no more, or way less of the likes of Dalvin Cook and Michael Carter and more much more Breece. Week 5-6 is pretty much about the time most medical experts projected Breece to no longer be on a snap count so it’s nice to see this come to fruition for Breece, the Jets and his fantasy owners. The stars are aligning on this one; you get Breece full go, the dead last Denber Bronco run defense (that just cut Randy Gregory) and you get the best version of Zach WIlson and the Jets O-line that we’ve seen in some. The insertion of rookie Joe Tippmpan at guard shifting Vera- Tucker to RT and thus moving Mekhi Beckton from right to left tackle has paid big dividends both in the run and pass game.

Not to mention that Breece torched the Broncos defense last year for a 64 yard TD last year before sadly tearing his ACL. That Broncos defense was also miles better than this joke of a defense that let up another 100 yard performance to Khalil Herbert this past week. It just feels symbolic to me that where Breece’s electric rookie season came to a screeching halt is the same game and stadium where he will be allowed to run free. I think we see a big revenge game for both Breece and the NY Jets offense as a whole. Especially considering that Sean Payton ripped apart Jets new OC and old Bronco coach Nathaniel Hackett this offseason calling it one of the worst coaching jobs in NFL history. Get your popcorn for this one and FIRE UP BREECE!

Sit em Week 5 - Rhamondre Stevenson

Week 5 Sit ’em Rhamondre Stevenson – Patriots RB

To say Rhamondre Stevenson has been less than stellar would be an understatement. In fact, if we didn’t have last year’s production from Stevenson I think our outlook would be completely different on Rhamondre. Stevenson was one of my favorite breakout candidates last year; and he lived up to it. But this year he has really struggled as has pretty much the entire New England offense. After averaging a very efficient 5ypc last year he is down to just 2.7 ypc in 4 games this year. He also averaged over 4 catches a game last year (69 total for the year) which really gave him a nice floor for fantasy purposes. This year he is a little over 3 a game but hasn’t topped 10 receiving in a game since week one. Additionally, Stevenson has ceded some carries and snaps to Ezekiell Eliott, so his volume is also a bit down.

To recap; his snaps, efficiency, and receiving work are all down making him much more TD dependent. One touchdown in 4 games isn’t going to cut it and with how badly this offense is struggling I don’t know how many red zone looks he will be seeing. In fact, Elliot still doesn’t have a touchdown either and he always remains a threat to vulture TD’s and short yardage work. Stevenson now faces off against a really tough New Orleans’ defense that is the eighth toughest against RB’s this year. The point total for the game sits at just 40 points giving more credence to this game being a defensive battle between two struggling offenses. I just sold Stevenson in one of my leagues right before writing this and you’d be surprised how some people still have a very positive view of him, most likely due to last year’s success. I would try to sell Stevenson as soon as possible and capitalize on the name value he still holds. There just simply isn’t much upside to this offense as a whole nor the running game.

Rhamondre Stevenson Week 5 Projection: 14 carries, 36 yards, 2 receptions on 3 targets for 11 yards, 0 touchdowns (6.7 points)
