Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 7

Welp got my ass kicked and served up some humble pie right after a couple amazing weeks. I am truly speechless. Logan Thomas – 1 catch for 2 yards on one target. Just absolutely disgusting. I need to be better and specifically need to be better about not trusting garbage teams like the Commanders. I was also super high on Jahan Dotson coming into this year. This team is an unpredictable mess and I should know better. Curtis Samuel for Christ sake might be their WR1. So I am going to avoid all things Commanders going forward for featured start sits and wear last week on the chin.

The sit of the week, Miles Sanders, actually did not suit up. The first time this year a sit of the week did not play. I was very skeptical of him with both the groin and shoulder injury and it turned out he wasn’t able to go. I do hope those that had Sanders though were able to at least pick up Chuba Hubbard. Hubbard had a great game and ended up with 88 yards on the ground, a rushing TD, and one catch for 2 yards (15.5 fantasy points). Carolina now has a bye and I’d expect Sanders to be back and healthy but we may see more of a committee going forward after Hubbard’s performance.

Week 7 Start ’em Rashee Rice – Chiefs WR

Rashee Rice was not someone that I was terribly high on coming into the season. Rice was a very inconsistent, yet talented player, coming out of SMU and battled injuries along the way. I saw Rice as a very raw player for the most part coming into the year and figured that it would take him some time to pick up the ever challenging Andy Reid System. But clearly, Rice is making big strides much quicker than I had imagined and is especially finding holes in zone for Mahomes. For PPR, Rice has reached double digit fantasy points in 4 of 6 games while playing over 50 % of the snaps in just one game (week 3 versus Chicago).

Rice played nearly half of the snaps last week (49%) and has been earning more and more playing time taking away from the likes of guys like Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore. Now Rice and the Chiefs wide receivers have their juiciest matchup of the year against a Chargers secondary that is dead last against opposing wide receivers. If you saw the Cowboys- Charger game on Monday night, it’s no secret how poorly and soft this secondary played against the likes of CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup. Dak, who has been rough this year, could do anything he wanted and could’ve had a bigger game if not for key drops. Rice is clearly Mahomes most trusted target after Travis Kelce thus far and can make big plays with the ball in his hands. Not to mention that this games total sits at 48.5 points making it the second highest for the week. Plenty of points will be scored and Rice should be a big part of that, especially being how much space the Chargers corners have been giving opposing WR’s of late.

Najee Harris - Week 7 Sit em

Week 7 Sit ’em Najee Harris – Steelers RB

Honestly if you still own Najee Harris you are probably not in the best of spots after spending third or fourth round draft capital on him. If you can get practically anything for him at this point I would, even a good defense. Najee has averaged a hair under 4 yards per carry this year which is right along with his career averages. The issue with Najee this year is that Jaylen Warren has cut into his workload on the ground plus the fact that he has pretty much taken all of the receiving work as well. Najee has just 5 catches on 9 targets for the season and if you recall he had 74 receptions his rookie year and was a huge part of him being the RB3 for fantasy that season. I don’t think Najee is as bad as some people make him out to be, he has still had some tough runs but let’s face it; Jaylen Warren looks far more explosive as a runner.

Another big issue for Najee is just how bad this Steelers offense is. If they were racking up first downs and moving drives down the fields it would mean more carries and red zone opportunities for Najee. This offense ranks 30th in both yards and points per game while being dead last in red zone scoring (28.57%). Fortunately for the offense, they should be getting Pat Friermuth and Diontae Johnson back which should give this offense some more pop, however, it does mean more playmakers that could take away from Najee’s opportunities. It is really hard to see the upside for Najee at this point. He is clearly TD dependent but has yet to find the end zone this season. I haven’t even mentioned the matchup, the LA Rams, because at this point it truly doesn’t matter with how this offense has been playing combined with the backfield committee. This offense is flat out awful and Najee is the less effective of the two running backs with next to 0 involvement in the pass game. The offensive line is also still a huge issue and Kenny Pickett has not turned that corner many had hoped. Sit Najee or forever hold your peace.

Najee Harris Projection: 13 carries for 46 yards, 1 reception on 2 targets, 6 receiving yards, 0 touchdowns (6.2 points)
