Despite Government Regulation and Censorship, Disfranchised Chinese Find Ways to Make their Voices Heard.

It is happening all over the China. Where land sales that are aimed at developing the rural countryside are done with different kind of dirty tricks. New developments in China’s countryside are wreaking havoc at many towns and villages.

The forced relocation of farmers, for the supposed purpose of water damn building, commercial or industrial development, or real estate development, is creating enormous environmental and human disasters in China’s countryside.

The forced relocation is happening all over China. Ten, if not hundreds of millions of farmers have been forced to give up their land and to relocate to congregated apartment buildings. These new “congregate communities”, as they are called by local Chinese, are being built not only in economically developed coastal areas, where urbanization is justified, but in remote rural areas, where the “relocated” farmers have no skills to make a living outside of the farm. In the 1950s and 1960s, Chinese farmers were asked to give up their traditional independent plantation to live in socialist communes, in order to build socialist country.

Now the motivation of the central planners is to congregate communities for industrial China. But it also helps local party leaders in China’s small towns and villages to sell the land to real estate developers at very low prices and pocket huge profits through bribes of different kinds.

Hundred of thousands of “Plead People” (that is how they are called by local Chinese) from the countryside are wondering in the major cities, as a result of the “forced relocation”. They are desperate to seek justice from higher government officials, but they often got no response at all while getting punished by their local party leaders back home.

Since in China, the land is owned by the state, and at the local level, the party leader of any given village or town often can use his power to allocate the land (including the natural resources, such as mines and water resources) to benefit his personal interest and connections. This unchecked power to distribute collective natural resources has created huge wealth disparity and potential for social unrest.

Millions of “Plead people” have been cracked down each year with iron fists at the grass root level. If this massive scale of injustice would have happened in a cold arm weaponry age, say one hundred years ago, China already would have sunk into civil war.

But today the communist state closely controls and monitors communications, and can mobilize the Para army at the speed of light.

This unprecedented injustice and criminal activity will be able to sustain itself for the time being, but when will it trigger an uncontrollable avalanche of protests is anyone’s guess. The tsunami is brewing underground.

Each individual story is a touching one that can be reproduced into a Hollywood movie. Despite government regulation and censorship, they find a way with the use of special proxy servers that get over Fire Wall and reach the outside world everyday. That way, with their fake IP’s, they can communicate with one another, hoping for a better future.

One of the stories is the corruption behind Hai Nan Real Estate Bubble and the forced relocation to congregated communities associated with it.

A party leader in a state owned plantation (Shan Ya Nan Bing Plantation) sold state owned land in the plantation at dirt cheap prices to related real estate developers. Fed up with reckless corruption, thousands of plantation workers plead to various government agencies to seek justice. Many of the “plead people” finished up in police custody and jail. They exhausted all available legal and administrative channels to seek justice.

The only option left is writing posts on internet, and of course, most of the internet posts will be censored and deleted.
