Top 50 Trump US infrastructure projects named

The top 50 US infrastructure projects for a Trump Administration were released by popular traders’ blog zerohedge.com on Wednesday, citing a report released by the Kansas City Star and The News Tribune.

The list of “priority” projects is part of a longlist that spans at least 300 sites, zerohedge reported.

The document read here cites an investment plan worth $137.5bn with half the cash sourced from the private sector. The projects are seen creating a direct 193,350 jobs years as well as an estimated indirect 241,700 job years.

Among the potential projects are a new terminal for the Kansas City airport, upgrades to Interstate 95 in North Carolina and the construction of a high-speed railway from Dallas to Houston. The document obtained by the Star proposes funding the projects as public-private partnerships, with half the money coming from private investment.

Among the projects listed is a $10bn proposal to replace the nation’s radar-based air traffic control system with one called NextGen, based on satellites. The document projects the undertaking could create 2,300 direct jobs.

The documents, circulated within the congressional and business communities, offer a first glimpse at which projects around the country might get funding if Trump follows through on his campaign promise to renew America’s crumbling highways, airports, dams and bridges.

It may also get Democrats’ vote if the project includes their cherished sites, worth at least $1 trillion and which would create as many as 15 million jobs.

Of the 50 top projects the majority are seen having a revenue stream which probably means tolling or other commercial extraction.

As well as highways and bridges, the top list contains oil & gas, electricity, and water projects.

In the oil & gas sector the projects are:

• Alaska Pipeline & LNG project
• Atlantic Coast Pipeline

In the electricity and transmission sector:

• Fort Mojave Solar Project
• TransWest Express
• Energy Storage and Grid Modernisation – national level
• Champlain Hudson Power Express
• Plains and Eastern Electric Transmission Lines
• Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy

The list also proposes on a national level, hydroelectric plants operated by USACE and NextGen Air Traffic Control System, as well as a National Research Lab for Infrastructure.

Airports getting a facelift include Seattle, where an expansion is eyed, as well as Kansas City and St. Louis.
