Eastmain'S Eau Claire deposit looks promising for open-pit and shallow underground operation

Eastmain Resources Inc (TSE:ER) has put out another set of eye-catching drill results from its Eau Claire deposit at the Clearwater project in Quebec.

The latest assays come from  24 drill holes, or 7,317 metres (m), including infill and stepout holes in the 450W zone and the 850W zone.

Reported exploration and infill holes from the program now totals 173 holes, with assays pending on just nine holes.

President and chief executive Claude Lemasson said: “The resource definition program is updating the potential open-pit and shallow underground mining concept for the forthcoming mineral resource estimate expected in Q3 2017.

“The results to date are reinforcing the strength of the Eau Claire deposit within the top 400m.

“With the infill program now complete, we can focus our attention both below the 400 m levels at Eau Claire and to the east of the deposit, where minimal drilling exists, but where we see great potential for further resource growth.”

Highlights from the near surface drilling (down to 100m) included an intercept of 48.8 g/t (grams per ton) gold over 0.5 metres.

In shallow underground work, that’s 100 metres to 400m depth, the firm hit 10.2 g/t of the yellow metal over 8.5 metres, including 24.3 g/t over 2 metres, it revealed.

Targeted exploration continues with three drills around the Eau Claire deposit.

Drilling is now focused from the 400 m to 750 m depths, targeting below the 450W and 850W zones’ known measured and indicated mineral resources.

In addition, new drilling is targeting the Eau Claire extension along the Clearwater deformation zone, toward the Snake Lake target, the group added.

Shares in Toronto eased 2.47% to C$0.395.
