WeedMD starts selling cannabis plant clones

WeedMD Inc (CVE:WMD) reached another milestone – starting to sell cannabis plants to patients registered for home grow.

The sale of so called plant ‘clones’ comes under the access to cannabis for medical purposes rules.

It comes just days after the group officially began registering patients and fulfilling orders via its online store.

“With the recent announcement launching sales of dried cannabis and now sales of cannabis plants, we look forward to serving medical patients with our high quality genetics,” said chief executive Bruce Dawson-Scully today.

“We are extremely supportive of home grow and are excited to offer access to our unique genetics to those that would prefer to grow their own medical cannabis.

“We undertook an intensive phenotyping process as we built inventory ahead of medical sales, and the strains we are offering reflect the results of our scientific research and development.”

Initially, the firm will offer several strains which have been chosen for their unique characteristics including cannabinoid profile, genetics, nutrient requirements, and the ease of cultivation.

The firm plans to provide additional strains in the future based on feedback, it said.

As previously reported, in anticipation of beginning sales, WeedMD had produced a sizeable inventory of well over 300kg of dried product that is in its vault.
