Lucky Minerals names Mears as new president and chief executive

Lucky Minerals Inc (CVE:LJ, OTCQB:LKMNF) has named respected geologist and executive John Mears as its new  president and chief executive with immediate effect.

In addition, Alain Moreau joins the firm as vice-president (VP) of exploration.

Mears takes over the roles from Robert Rosner, who has acted as interim president and CEO since June, last year. Rosner will return to the position of chief financial officer and also  becomes executive vice-president.

Mears has sat on the board of directors of numerous publicly listed mining companies, including Nevada Star Corp. Azteca Gold Corp and Oregon Resources Corp.

He also served as a director of Norsemont Mining during its successful US$540mln takeover by Hudbay Mining

“The addition of John Mears to the Lucky team is a huge advantage to the company as we progress to the next stage of our development,” said Rosner.

“His knowledge and experience and highly respected profile in the international mining community will contribute immeasurably to Lucky’s success with both our Emigrant Project in Montana, and the newly acquired Fortuna Project in Ecuador”

He added: “Mr. Alain Moreau has been a geologist and entrepreneur in technology development since 1987 and has worked for numerous mining companies around the globe for the last 30 years.”

Lucky Minerals shares in Toronto stand at C$0.135.
