Small-Cap Snapshot: Orchid Paper Products shares soar on an amended credit agreement

Orchid Paper Products Company (NYSE:TIS) shares jumped double digits following an amendment to its credit agreement. The company was extended additional credit, including a revolver commitment of US$33.1mln. The tissue products company expects to announce its second-quarter results Thursday after the bell.

Shares of the Oklahoma-based company were up more than 42% to US$3.12.

Vericel Corporation (NASDAQ:VCEL) was a top gainer following positive second-quarter results. The biotech reported an increase in revenue and upped its full-year guidance. The company develops cell therapies for sports medicine and severe burn care markets.

Shares of the Massachusetts-based company were up around 24% to US$12.60 in Tuesday Morning trading.

Spark Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ONCE) surpassed Wall Street expectations in its second-quarter as well but the shares fell on disappointing results from its hemophilia gene therapy trial. The results of the trial showed that while its treatment reduced bleeding in most patients, one patient was sent to the hospital.

Shares of the Philadelphia-based fell more than 32% to US$52.18.

Luminex Corporation (NASDAQ:LMNX) missed on earnings and revenue in its second-quarter results. The company reported earnings of US$0.15 per share on revenue of US$79.6mln, falling below analyst estimates of US$0.19 EPS on revenue of US$80mln. The medical instruments company develops biological testing products for diagnostic, pharmaceutical and research industries.

Shares were down more than 18% to US$28.43.

The Russell 2000 small-cap index was up around 0.5% in Tuesday Morning trading.
