Small-Cap Snapshot: Rocky Brands steps it up in its second-quarter, stomping past analyst estimates

Footwear company Rocky Brands Inc (NASDAQ:RCKY) has stepped it up in its second-quarter earnings. The company reported earnings of US$0.35 per share on revenue of US$58.21mln, well above analyst expectations of US$0.21 EPS on revenue of US$58.46mln. Its brand portfolio features outdoor and work shoes, including Michelin Footwear, Georgia Boot, Durango and Lehigh.

Shares were up nearly 20% to US$30.52 in Wednesday morning trading.

The Container Store Group Inc (NYSE:TCS) is also up on better-than-expected fiscal first-quarter earnings and raised guidance. The storage container company reported an adjusted net loss of US$0.08 per share on revenue of US$195.8mln, beating analyst estimates of an adjusted net loss of US$0.013 per share on revenue of US$190.6mln. The company cited its custom closet category as one of its growth drivers.

Shares of the Texas-based company jumped nearly 40% to US$9.14.

Software company Diebold Nixdorf Incorporated (NYSE:DBD) shares fell following a second-quarter net loss and a bleak outlook. The tech company reported a net loss of US$0.21, well below analyst estimates of a net loss of US$0.01 per share. For the year ahead, the software services provider forecast revenue of US$4.5bn at the low end of its previous outlook and cut its adjusted EBITDA guidance range to US$280mln to US$320mln from US$380mln to US$410mln.

Shares of the Ohio-based tech company were down more than 30% to US$7.60.

Phone case company ZAGG Inc (NASDAQ:ZAGG) beat analyst estimates on revenue in its second-quarter results but saw lower-than-expected earnings. The mobile accessory company reported earnings of US$0.11 on revenue of US$118.6mln compared with Wall Street expectations of US$0.17 per share on revenue of US$116.4mln.

Shares of the Utah-based company fell more than 11% to US$13.43.

The Russell 2000 small-cap index was down slightly in Wednesday morning trading.
