The Far Side

I loved The Far Side.  I miss it.  I hear it might return.  I have no idea what form it will return as.  I hope it isn’t political as a lot of things are these days.  If you don’t know The Far Side you owe it to yourself to get some books.  You will laugh for hours.  At our cabin in Minnesota, we keep Far Side books.

I miss a lot of comics from my youth.  Of course, everyone loved Peanuts.  Still do.  Calvin and Hobbes was tremendous. I don’t see comics like that so much anymore and it is because of the way the newsprint industry has declined.

Doonesbury used to be good until it got way too left wing wacko.  It’s not fun anymore.  Comics should make you laugh and shouldn’t be pulpits to preach.  Doonesbury just is a megaphone on a soapbox.

I am afraid everyone is so offended these days we can’t poke fun and laugh at anything.  People can’t imagine some of Seinfeld’s routines but could you imagine a guy like Don Rickles trying to start out in comedy today?
