Garden Update – Early August

You might  be wondering what happened to my garden while I was away for 2 1/2 weeks in Uganda. Well, DH did manage to keep it alive–thanks honey! However, it was a bit overgrown.

So I took a day off of my desk job and went to work in the garden.

I trimmed up the herbs and pulled the weeds.

I harvested kale and coriander and checked on the carrots. Then I planted some fall crops. I think it might be too late, but I thought I’d try it anyway. More kale, lettuce, rutabaga, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, brussels sprouts. We’ll see what happens.

Since these photos were taken, the cucumbers and red peppers have been doing very well. Unfortunately I think I have tomato blight, as the leaves are starting to wilt and brown. Next year we’ll make some more beds for more experimentation. I think that’s the most fun part of gardening, just watching to see what happens.
