Where to Find Pressure Cooker Recipes & Info Online

Now that cold weather has arrived, I find myself craving more meat and less stir fries, pasta, and other things that are quickly thrown together. Yet I still work 8-5 Monday – Friday, commute, and have other things going on in my life. Enter the pressure cooker.

Now, I know that pressure cookers are often associated with vegetarians and Indian cuisine. But I have found it tremendously helpful in my locavore adventures. DH doesn’t like meat cooked in a slow cooker, and by using a pressure cooker I can cook the meat and root vegetables in the same pot, in less than an hour. In the winter, the most readily available local foods are root vegetables and meat.

Hip Pressure Cooking

Laura’s site is a plethora of information, with tons of recipes and a Beginner Basics series that provides tips, tricks, and information for getting started. You can also easily find recipes by type, season, course, diet, and difficulty.

Miss Vickie’s Pressure Cooker Recipes

When I was researching pressure cookers, this site kept popping up, and indeed it seems to be the go-to site for information about recipes as well as pressure cooker recommendations, parts and accessory information, and tutorials. There’s even a fairly active forum.

Pressure Cooker Diaries

This blog seems to be a bit newer, so it doesn’t have a *ton* of recipes in comparison to Miss Vickie’s, but the ones that are there seem like things I would want to make. I also like that she has some videos.

Pressure Cooking with Lorna Sass

Apparently she is known as “The Queen of Pressure Cooking.”  She is also a widely published food writer and an award-winning author of 15 cookbooks. Her blog contains pressure cooker recipes and chronicles Lorna’s ongoing adventures with the “pc.”
