Okay, even though we’ve had some significant snowfall this month in NE Ohio, I am staying sane by reminding myself that spring IS here, despite Mother Nature’s apparent instability, and summer is right around the corner.

This is a good thing, because even though we’re far from the ocean and any surf-worthy beach, summertime in my town is absolutely magical. We have tons of riverfront festivals with delicious treats, live music, and even a fountain that all of the town’s kids love to play in. My town also has an amazing outdoor waterpark with slides, a huge swimming pool, a lazy river, and even a gigantic sand pit for little ones to enjoy. So while we won’t be hanging ten and catching a monster wave, we will still have a blast in the warm summer sun. 

Of course with summer approaching, it’s time to break out all those swimsuits! In my home, the guys are easy. Give them a pair of swimming trunks, and they’re all set. My daughter, Sophie, on the other hand, takes after her Mommy and has very specific tastes when it comes to her swimwear. Thankfully, I discovered Squirtini Bikini before there was an opportunity for any shopping woes.

Since my Sophie is only 4 years old, I didn’t want to put her in a swimsuit that’s too revealing for her age. Since Squirtini Bikini caters to all tastes and body types, I had no problem finding the perfect suit for my little beach diva. Choosing the print, on the other hand, was a lot more challenging. All of the prints are super-cute, and if I could purchase one of each, I definitely would! 

Ultimately, I chose the Lilly silhouette in Jelly Fish with Batik binding. I just love the colorful print paired with tie-dyed accents. It appeals to the “modern day hippie” side of me, and Sophie loves it, too! (Guess the organic, organically-sourced, non-GMO apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree!) 

Sophie’s swimsuit arrived with lightning speed, and was very well-packaged. The first thing I noticed, other than the vibrant colors, is the quality of this suit. You know the thin, flimsy swimwear you can buy at big box retailers? Yeah, this is nothing like those at all. The material used is thicker, and even includes built-in SPF 50 protection! No, this doesn’t take the place of a quality sunscreen, but it’s an added barrier to keep little ones safe from harmful UVA/UVB rays! 

Since swimwear can often run a bit small, we chose a size 6 for Sophie. It fits her perfectly! (She wears a 4T in street clothing.) Please pay attention to the sizing and fit charts when ordering from Squirtini Bikini to ensure you get the right size. 

Sophie couldn’t wait to put on her chic new swimsuit, and wanted to head outside to play on the playground wearing it. Lucky for her, we had a nice little warm snap that allowed her to do just that. It was pretty funny…No leaves to be found on any of the trees, and yet a little girl is running around in a swimsuit! 

While the Lilly looks like a typical one-piece bathing suit, it’s actually a monokini! What does this mean? Well, it offers full coverage in the front where Moms want it the most, but the back and sides are open, giving a playful, fun appearance. 

Since the Lilly offers 2 tie closures at the neck and on the back, you can easily adjust this suit to provide the perfect fit. 

Isn’t this just adorable?! Sophie said that her Squirtini Bikini suit is her absolute favorite. That says a lot, since my little fashionista has around a dozen swimsuits to choose from! She loved the fun colors and the Jelly Fish Print, and she says it’s very comfortable to wear. Even while climbing, sliding, and swinging, her suit stayed perfectly in place. As a mom, I appreciate this because I won’t have to worry about any “wardrobe malfunctions” at the water park this summer.
