I have to admit, feeding 3 growing kids can be really, really expensive. Especially considering one of said children is a teenage boy, who seems to have a hollow leg where he stores massive quantities of food. Seriously, though…Teen boys can EAT! Since 2 of my kids are preschool aged, getting everyone ready for a grocery run can be quite the ordeal. There are always shoes to locate, strollers to grab, and of course Sophie just HAS to have her sparkly Bruno hat, or nothing is right with the world. 

So as you can probably guess, I stay busy, and my hands are kept quite full. Sadly, that means I don’t always have time to search for the best deals or visit 3 or 4 different stores to take advantage of these sales and maximize my savings. 

Honestly, the idea of dragging my 3 and 4 year olds to several different grocery stores sounds like a nightmare. I can basically guarantee that someone (probably Xander) would have a meltdown, and all Hell would break loose. So rather than go shop-hopping, I prefer to get everything I need in ONE place. Even if that means I may lose some potential savings. Sad, but it’s a sacrifice I often made to preserve my own sanity. 

Usually, that one store just happens to be Walmart. They have literally everything under the sun under one convenient, open 24 hours, roof. Since we have odd schedules to begin with, the hours make a ton of difference. Plus, Walmart is known for having some great deals. I always assumed I was getting the best prices in town just by shopping here. 

But what if there are better deals to be had elsewhere? Am I missing out on tons of moolah by shopping primarily at Walmart for convenience sake? 

Well, thanks to Walmart Savings Catcher, I no longer have to wonder. And, if there are better deals that I missed, I will actually get the difference back in the form of a Walmart e-gift card to be used at Walmart or at Walmart.com. How does Savings Catcher work? Well, it’s simple! Download the Walmart Savings Catcher App or sign up for Savings Catcher online. You will then either create a Walmart account, or link an existing one. This is how your purchases and savings are tracked. Then comes the fun part. Just go shopping at Walmart, as usual. Buy the things you’d normally buy. 

Once you pay the nice lady (or man) and get your receipt, it’s time for the Savings Catcher magic to happen. If you’re using the mobile app with your smartphone, you can scan the receipt right then. This will load your receipt, in detail, into the Savings Catcher. 

The app will then itemize your purchase and search local ads to compare prices.  If it comes back showing any lower prices elsewhere, you will receive the difference.  Pretty darn awesome, if I do say so myself! If you’d rather manually enter your receipt online, you can do that, too. Just visit the Savings Catcher website and follow the instructions there. 

Once your receipt has been entered into the Savings Catcher system, it can take up to 72 hours to calculate savings by comparing all the local prices. Be patient. You will receive a notification if you’ve scored any savings. I am still waiting on my results from my shopping trip, but I will be sure to update letting everyone know just how much we earned by using Savings Catcher! 

Overall, I am VERY excited about this app. It saves me so much time, since there won’t be any driving from store to store. I also don’t have to spend hours scouring ads for the best prices. I love the fact that the Savings Catcher App does the hard work for me. All I have to do is shop, relax, and rake in the savings. Plus, it’s totally, 100% FREE to use! It doesn’t get much better than that!
