Unless you’ve been living under a rock somewhere, you’re probably well aware of the fact that the lovable Minions of Despicable Me fame are BACK and better than ever! 

That’s right! The brand new movie, “Minions” is in theaters right now! How cool is that?! I know my kids are super-excited, and I am pretty sure we will be making a surprise trip to the movie theater later this week. (Shh! Don’t tell the kiddos!)

Anyway, in celebration of “Minions”, the folks at MEGA BLOKS have an exciting new line of building sets featuring everyone’s favorite mischief-makers, the Minions. These sets are perfect for those rainy days that we’ve been having so many of, since they will keep kids entertained for hours on end. They are great for kids ages 5 and up, although I found that my 38 year old husband was sucked into the fun, too! 

We received the MEGA BLOKS Despicable Me Castle Adventure set to check out for ourselves. It contains a whopping 786 pieces, and offers tons of opportunities for fun and adventure. 

The Minions have their eyes on the prize in the Castle Adventure by Mega Bloks Minions™! The chase is on when you build the Castle and open the walls to reveal a series of fun-filled rooms where Kevin, Stuart and Bob can cause a royal ruckus. Help your Minions rappel off the castle walls, zip-line from room to room, and discover hidden passages. Then top off this crazy caper by dropping a hammer to crack open the display case. The Minions come with interchangeable parts, like overalls, goggles, even arms, feet and hair, so you can mix and match to customize!

The Castle Adventure is SO COOL, according to my kids. It is very intricate in detail, and has loads of interactive, moving parts. The castle also opens and closes, which is a feature my kids really seem to enjoy. 

But the best part? The Minions, of course! They are adorable, and interchanging their hair, clothing, and accessories is loads of fun for little ones.

I’m not going to lie….My 5 and 4 year olds would not be able to assemble this without help from an adult or much older child. It’s very complex, and takes quite a while to put together. We had a “Building Party”, and my husband and 15 year old built the castle while the littles looked on and pitched in where they could. 

Once the Adventure Castle was assembled, Sophie and Xander couldn’t wait to play. They had a blast forming their own imaginary adventures with Stuart, Bob, and Kevin. The rappelling and ziplining were definitely the kids’ favorite activities. 

Overall, we’re definitely loving the Minions Castle Adventure building set from MEGA BLOKS. This was absolutely the perfect way to enjoy quality family time together on a rainy afternoon. The kids were engaged for hours, and it even lured my teen in. (That NEVER happens, by the way. My 15 year old does not want to play with the little ones!) We love the quality and detail of this set, and we can’t wait to add more MEGA BLOKS Minion fun to our collection!
