Here in NE Ohio, summer is winding down. In fact, Sophie has already started school, and Kyle starts tomorrow. Poor little Xander? Well, he’s got another year to go. Thankfully, since we’re homeschooling Miss Sophie, Xander will have quite the head start since he gets to watch her complete her lessons every day. He even participates when he can!

Homeschooling is totally new to us. I’m not going to lie and say we have the swing of things, because we don’t just yet. I can say that we are very excited, and that we truly believe that individualized learning is the best plan for Sophie. She’s 5, but doesn’t do anything on a Kindergarten level. She’d be horribly bored in a traditional classroom, so we have opted to teach her at home.

One thing we’re really excited about is the fact that we will get to attend tons of meet-ups and field trips with Sophie’s classmates. We also got a membership to the Akron Zoo, and they have special programs specifically designed for homeschooled students.
