Will GBPEUR exchange rates continue to fall? (Dayle Littlejohn)

Last week the Pound fell to a 20 month low against the Euro and I expect this trend will continue in the run up to the UK’s referendum.

The UK’s EU referendum is now in full swing and I believe the ‘In’ campaigners are not doing themselves any favors. UK Prime Minister David Cameron has been centre of attention due to his trust fund set up buy his late father, which allows the PM to avoid paying tax.

Negative press at this stage for the UK PM is no doubt swaying voters towards the ‘Out’ campaign which is having a negative impact on the Pound.

Data releases to look out for this week 

Tuesday is the latest inflation numbers for the UK. A slight rise is expected therefore if I were buying Euros this week I would possibly trade Tuesday morning after the data release.

Thursday morning the Eurozone release their latest inflation numbers. A spike is expected in favour of the Euro. The month on month prediction is 1.2%.

Thursday the Bank of England releases their latest Interest Rate decision. The decision itself should be a non event however when the Governor addresses the public shortly after I wouldn’t be surprised to see a negative outlook painted due to a possible ‘Brexit’ on the horizon.

Both data releases should mean GBPEUR exchange rates drop throughout Thursday, therefore if you need to buy Euros this week trading after Tuesdays UK inflation numbers would be my strategy.
