While Xiaomi’s next global event is approaching, another piece of leak has showed up revealing the upgraded avatar of Redmi 2, company’s famous budget smartphone. Highlighted as Redmi 2 Prime, the enhanced version of Redmi 2 has been spotted on a renowned ecommerce website.
Earlier this year, Redmi 2 Prime was released in China, and now, it has been listed on Amazon India with complete set of specifications. The listing highlights the device as ‘Currently unavailable’, and suggests that the company will be launching it real soon in the Indian market. It first spotted by Newzars, but the official confirmation is yet awaited from Xiaomi.
According to the listing, the limited edition avatar of Redmi 2 or Redmi 2 Prime will be shipping with an upgraded set of specs. Specifically, the device will come with upgraded RAM and ROM capabilities. The RAM packed with this phone will be increased to 2GB from 1GB, and built-in storage will be upgraded to 16GB from 8 gigs. It will be expandable up to 32 gigs while, other features will remain unchanged.
Few months back, Xiaomi launched Redmi 2 with a nice set of specs. The device sports a 4.7-inch high definition display, powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz, coupled with 1GB of RAM and Adreno 306 graphics. It runs Android KitKat based MIUI 6 out-of-the box, and offers prolific camera capabilities with an 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front-facing snapper. The inbuilt memory packed with this device is 8 gigs, and can be further increased by up to 32 gigs via external microSD card. It packs LTE connectivity on both sim, and is perfectly backed by a long-lasting battery of 2200mAh. At that time, the company mentioned the fact that its Limited Edition variant with 2GB RAM and 16ROM will be launched real soon, but its availability or pricing were held back.
The speculated Redmi 2 Prime looks like a perfect fit for the budget segment, but as of now, its pricing details are kept undercover by the company. Redmi 2 was initially launched at Rs. 6,999, but recently, its price was slashed to Rs. 5,999. It weighs around 133 grams, and comes in a bunch of colors including, Green, Black, Yellow, Pink, and White.
