Apple Slashes iPhone 5S Prices In India

After the releasing the iPhone 6S, Apple has been big on slashing the prices of previous iPhones by quite a margin. First, all iPhones got equal price-cuts, and now, the 16GB variant of iPhone 5S has started retailed at a reduced price tag of Rs. 25,000. While this is the official price tag from Apple, the phone is retailing for a much lower Rs. 21,500 across several retail channels.

Among the top retail channels, Flipkart is selling the 16GB variant at Rs. 21, 948, Amazon India and Snapdeal are selling at Rs. 21,499, and Apple’s authorized online retail partner Infibeam is offering the deal at Rs. 21,899.
To recall, this is the second price cut the iPhone 5S has received in last four months. The first one came with the launch of iPhone 6s and 6s Plus when the retail price the handset was slashed to Rs. 35,000 for 16GB and Rs. 40,000 for 32GB, and the market operating price (MOP) came down to Rs. 26,990.

With this price cut, the India price of iPhone 5S is now cheapest in the world, overtaking $450 (approximately Rs. 30,000) for the unlocked 16GB variant in the U.S. But the downside is, Apple has announced price-cut only for the 2013 flagship and not for the most recent iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Earlier in September, the prices of both iPhones was at Rs. 52,000 and Rs. 62,000 for the 16GB and 64GB variant of iPhone 6 and Rs. 62,000 and 72,000 for the 16GB and 64GB variant of the iPhone 6 Plus. Notably, there market operating prices across online retail outlets were a lot lower than this!

Anyways, for Apple lovers in India, the price tag of iPhone 5S is too tempting to ignore.
