Gionee Marathon M5 Plus Launched In China

Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has introduced an updated iteration of its most recent Marathon M5 smartphone with a bigger display and battery. The new smartphone comes with “Plus” added into its name, and packs top-tier specs at an impressive price bracket of CNY 2,499, which is approximately 24,999 in the Indian currency. Gionee also announced a price cut for the original Marathon M5, which now comes at CNY 1,999 (Rs. 19,990 approx.)

However, Gionee also elucidated the fact, that this is just the china variant of Marathon M5 Plus and the Indian variant might come with a few more tweaks on the software and hardware front.  The phone will be hitting the shelves from December 25, and is boasting off a humongous 5020mAh battery as the biggest selling point. Gionee claims it comes with an optimized battery, which reduces the drop in its percentage without any glitches. It retains 90 percent of its original battery after a whopping 600 charging cycles.

As far as specifications are concerned, Gionee Marathon M5 Plus has been improved with a bunch of capabilities. The phone flaunts a beautifully crafted metal body, and sports a 6-inch full HD AMOLED display with 368 pixels per inch. It comes with an unspecified octa-core chipset paired with 3GB RAM, and offers sufficient room for seamless work and play with 64GB of inbuilt memory, expandable up to 128 gigs via microSD card. Its battery is covered with stainless steel back, which is a whole lot sturdy and durable.

On the software front, Gionee Marathon M5 Plus runs Android 5.1 Lollipop based Amigo 3.1 OS, and brings a bunch of features with an improved look and feel. Gionee also touts that the new alert feature on the smartphone will play a significant part reducing power consumption by informing users about those power hungry apps. The phone eliminates power drainage, and incorporates fast charging capabilities for charging up from zero to 100 percent in just 2 hours. The double charging tips equipped with this smartphone give full benefits of quick charging without heating and other snags!

Along with standard connectivity options and an improved battery, Gionee Marathon M5 Plus also includes a fingerprint sensor on its front-panel. According to the company, this sensor has a very impressive response time of 0.1 second and identification time of just 0.38 second.
