Coup and Civil War Ensue in Egypt

BBC World Newsannounced that there is a possibility of marches tomorrow in Egypt heading to the presidential palace, after President Mubarak address to the nation confirmed everybody’s fears that he is still reluctant to step down.

The main question now is what will happen if thousands of angry people start marching toward the palace tomorrow. Would the military get involved and which side they will take? An army crackdownwill be a terrible follow up.

More news on the Egypt’s armed forces taking a commanding role in the country is to be expected. A statement by the military earlier made many shout “The Army and the people in one hand!” Protesters in Cairo roared approval at the news that the military is moving to unseat the government they have restlessly opposed.

Tomorrow will be an interesting test for the strength of this movement and the vox populi.

President Obama says that Egypt has yet to propose a “concrete and unequivocal” path to democracy and a clear transition, after the defiant speech given by President Mubarak. The White House seems to be more concerned after the speech of Mubarak, than it was before. During the address to the youth Mubarak said “… I never succumbed to foreign pressure or dictations…” Some would say that he was targeting the United States.
