St. Louis CBS Local published an article on the 27th of September 2012 entitled “Virtual House Arrest Ordered for Minors in East St. Louis.”
Apparently, “angered by the recent murders of four young people, the mayor announced today that police are going to impose drastic new measures to keep teens off the streets.”

Mayor Alvin Parks said, “there is something going on in the community at this point that we’ve got to safeguard them and keep them off the streets.”
He finishes, “there are people shooting at each other for no reason whatsoever.”
The following is an excerpt from the article listing some of the rules the mayor is now imposing:
“Among the rules:
**Minors are to be off the streets at ten o’clock on both weeknights and weekend nights.
**Minors on the street during school hours will be arrested on sight.
**Police will also perform I.D. checks on street corners and conduct gun searches, and Parks says he won’t hesitate to call in the National Guard if the spike in violence continues.”
According to a KMOV article as of two days ago, on the 29th of September, the mayor “is softening his earlier proposal this week of banning males in the city from wearing red or blue clothing.”

These rules are for minors. Minors don’t have the same rights as adults. That being said, it is a shame that the government has to do what the PARENTS should be doing. Parents are ultimately responsible for the actions of their kids.And they should be held accountable.

I don’t know any adults that want to be in East STL during the day. Who in their right mind would want to be on those streets after dark? Any sensible adult should have there minor children inside by dark in that town if you want them to stay alive.
This also being used to condition the adults to when the time is right!
Thats called a curfew. I support that, keeps teenagers with out of control hormones away from the buildings with spray paint.
Don’t know much about the Social System in the U.S.A. but here in Canada even if you shout at your Kid or give him House Arrest all he needs to do is to complain to the Authorities starting from Teachers, Neighbors, to Social Services,then you as the Parent will become the Victim.
You don’t own your Kids in Canada,the State does, your only responsibility is to pay for their upbringing. Why do you think I have none…… Your Hands are tied….. You are knickered…..

In Canada we never had mandatory Military Draft…. its a shame since the Military is exempt from our Social injustice System and could teach those young thugs Discipline and Respect.

I was in an east st louise truck stop back in 88. Seems I had to take a leak and went in the john. The place was full of africans and someone took a dump in one a the urinals.
Back out at the truck a CB fight broke out somewhere on the truck stop and a car load a gangstas pulled up and bailed out running between trucks looking for someone to pop. I stayed away from there after that.
Good for them. When I was young, 40-50 years ago, there were curfews for minors, and the following reminder aired on TV at 11 p.m. nightly: “It is 11 p.m. Do you know where your children are?” What’s wrong with parents being held accountable for their kids?
