A power grid down drill was conducted by the US Government on Nov.13th, 2013. Furthermore, everyone from Janet Napolitano, to the DHS, to James Woolsey have all discussed the possibility of an electrical grid attack via an EMP.    

 

Additionally, the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Commission in their, NERC PowerPoint presentation, stated that one of the possible outcomes of an attack will be a “prolonged blackout…”

 

Add to that the fact that the congress passed the SHIELD Act, the first serious piece of legislation that attempts to address the vulnerabilities of the US power grid. As previously reported by Off The Grid News, a recent American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) report gave the power grid a “D+” when grading various pieces of infrastructure and public services in the United States.

 

With this in mind, an EMP attack might just be in our future….

What would you do if all the lights went out and they never came back on?  That is the question the new hit television series “Revolution” asks of its viewers.  If an EMP pulse ignited over the United States it could potentially damage our electronics from coast to coast, if it had enough power. EMP’s can come via a bomb or solar storm and they can range from a minor inconvenience to a civilization killing catastrophe. But in the worse case scenario, we’ll be sent back to the middle-ages. No computers, phones, cars, heat for our homes, no banking records, hospitals would be unusable, and two-thirds of the population would likely die from starvation, disease, and global unrest. It would be a disaster unlike any other time in history.

 

Most Americans are clueless when it comes to an EMP attack, but the treat is real. Even a few months ago there was a congressional commission that studied the possible effects of an EMP attack on the United States…

 

“The US Congress in 2000 established the Congressional Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack. In 2004, the committee produced a 70-page executive summary on the EMP threat, and it issued a final report on the matter in 2008. According to the report, “several potential adversaries have or can acquire the capability to attack the United States with a high-altitude nuclear weapon-generated electromagnetic pulse (EMP). A determined adversary can achieve an EMP attack capability without having a high level of sophistication.”

Regrettably, far too few of us are prepared to handle such an event and most people would be in a very serious amount of trouble in a very short period of time.

 

My advice, is to get prepared sooner than later. Stock up food, start your own garden, move to the country. Don’t shut your life down. Still work and do the things you need to do, but plan.
