Abbas: Closure of al-Aqsa holy site a ‘declaration of war’
Israel’s closure of Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque compound, known to Jews as the Temple Mount, following an assassination attempt Wednesday, is tantamount to a “declaration of war,” Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday morning.

Abbas’s remarks came after a suspect in the shooting of a prominent right-wing Jewish activist was killed in a gunfight with the police in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Abu Tor. Police closed the compound early Thursday out of fear of clashes in the wake of the shooting of Yehuda Glick, who campaigned for Jewish rights on the site, and as Israeli right-wing groups vowed to march on the site.
“This dangerous Israeli escalation is a declaration of war on the Palestinian people and its sacred places and on the Arab and Islamic nation,” his spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina quoted him as saying.
The director of the Al-Aqsa Mosque called the site’s closure unacceptable.
“It is unacceptable that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is paying a toll for the events in Jerusalem,” he said.
“The mosque is a place for prayer and worship and all Muslims have the right to access it,” the director told the Ma’an news agency.
Israeli authorities turned back right-wing Likud MK Moshe Feiglin, who tried to make his way onto the Temple Mount Thursday morning in response to the shooting of Glick, a leader of the Temple Mount Faithful activist group.

Yehuda Glick is hardly a “right-wing” activist. He has been invited to speak in Muslim countries and has been quoted saying: “I believe that the Temple Mount represents a place that has potential for being an international center for religious tolerance” and that he “spends most of every day preparing for the arrival of the Messiah in Israel.”
If a Palestinian shot him, they picked the wrong guy – in so far as anyone who knows the situation won’t have much sympathy for the shooter. Or for Palestinians giving out candy and launching fireworks to celebrate his shooting.
None of this will stop the timeline for the Third Temple. It will be in place by June 2016 – read Antichrist 2016-2019

Yehuda Glick is a New Yorker who was frequently arrested for stirring up trouble in Jerusalem.
He is a Likud party activist, and that’s why the Israeli press calls him “right wing.”
Most recently, in May, he was arrested at the Temple Mount for selling bracelets containing the words, “The Temple Mount is in our hands.”
LAST WEEK -according to Ha’aretz- Yehuda Glick predicted an act of violence would change the situation on the Temple Mount.
“When will the change take place? As soon as the Arabs harm someone on the Temple Mount, the Prime Minister will wake up, and it will be too late.”
Remarkable that the wake-up call came in a week, and that Glick was merely wounded.
Most people don’t survive armed assaults.
Palestinian Mutaz Hijazi didn’t survive. And thus cannot defend himself against the shooting-Glick charge.
Yehuda Glick’s cause is the demolition of the historic Al-Aqsa mosque, and its replacement by a Jewish Temple.
