When Donald Trump said that Barack Obama paid a ransom payment in order to release the captured American sailors, he was roundly mocked by the liberal media. Obama himself went on television to mock the idea that the $400 million was paid in order to release the prisoners. But oh what a difference a week or two can make.

State Department Says $400 million To Iran Was Contingent On American Prisoners’ Release

Spokesman John Kirby says negotiations over the United States’ returning Iranian money from a decades-old account was conducted separately from the prisoner talks. But he says the U.S. withheld delivery of the cash as leverage until the U.S. citizens had left Iran.

Both events occurred Jan. 17.

Kirby spoke after The Wall Street Journal reported that the departures of the crisscrossing planes were linked.

So there you have it folks, in the “nuanced parsing” of the Obama administration, they have admitted on video that the $400 million was held until the prisoners were released, then that money was paid to the Iranian government. That is the very definition of the word “ransom”.

U.S. Sent Cash to Iran as Americans Were Freed

The Obama administration secretly organized an airlift of $400 million worth of cash to Iran that coincided with the January release of four Americans detained in Tehran, according to U.S. and European officials and congressional staff briefed on the operation afterward.

My oh my, what an amazing coincidence.
