Mining engineering students paid more than Harvard grads

According to Forbes, new graduates from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSMT) make an average annual salary of $56,700 right out of college. That’s about $2,000 more than the average Harvard grad!

The international demand for mining engineers is so high, starting salaries for new engineers can range from $50,000 up to $120,000, specifically in Australia. Check out this post from I THINK MINING to view a ranking of mining engineering salaries all over the world.

Harvard students pay almost four times in as much tuition as SDSMT students. Goes to show you that you don’t need an Ivy League degree to make the big bucks. High paying jobs all start with mining!
