It’s not coming ….. It’s here… It happened to me and I live in Northern Washington State! Went to do my grocery shopping for the month. Got to the check out and had all my stuff bagged, ran my Visa card which had a zero balance on it so I know I was good to go. The checker ran it thru and then told me the card was not working. I asked her if it was declined and she said her screen was saying error, not working at this time. She ran it thru 3 more times and I ended up having to walk away from my cart of groceries.
I came home and called the bank to find out what was going on. I felt like they were side stepping my questions and the woman at the card services said they were experiencing technical glitches and they had not found the problem. I went online to the card website and my computer would not even take me there. All I got was a black screen saying error error error.
The next day things “looked” normal but who knows.
My advice….don’t rely on your credit cards if you are going someplace. Better have cash ready. Keep a special gas only envelope with cash handy for emergencies. This experience brought this whole thing right into my back yard. It’s really happening, people!!!
Cards get broken and computers go wrong from time to time but it’s often at a time that suites the banks or government.
Keeping cash just incase is all very fine but you should take more effort to keep food put by but my misses has been told just how to shop if things kick off.
Head for the hardware department in Tesco, pick up the biggest knife and then and only then proceed to do the shopping and hope that all the checkout staff have left the tills by the time you arrive to pay for the goods.
