Where To Recycle Bicycles

Bicycles are one of the most eco friendly modes of transportation that a person can do. It it good exercise, thus good for mind and health, low carbon footprint, will reduce taxes, smog, traffic and best of all, will save the cycler money!

Coming into Spring/ Summer, perfect cycling days, means cleaning out the garage and you probably have a bunch of bicycles that need work or perhaps never will be using again. Dont put them in the trash/ landfills, all bicycles even cruddy one are needed and can be recycled. To find a close bicycle recycler, check out any of the below listed resources or plug in recycle bicycles and your city/state and you will probably be surprised at the number of local recyclers.

Many Thift shops will take bicycles in good condition

Pedals for Progress is a New Jersey based not for profit collects surplus and used bicycles and sewing machines.  Ships  to developing countries.

Good Goes Around partners with bicycle shops, volunteers, and social services organizations  to collect bikes,  and give them to local children in need.

Recycle-A-Bike is a New York City not for profit community based organization that provide job training program and encourages everyday bicycle use.

BICAS, (Tuscon )trains to repair, maintain, and ride bicycle through workshops.  Promotes the use of salvaged bicycle parts to make bicycle art. Check out some of their recycled bicycle racks.

International Bicycling Fund. This website provides an international list of where to donate your bike, donating bike parts, and organizations requesting bike mechanical training.

Toronto Bicycle Recycling on Facebook - TORONTO BICYCLE RECYCLING (Ride Away Bikes) has been established to initiate a means of returning unwanted or abandoned bicycles back into the community. Hundreds of bicycles Arrive at the Toronto Landfill on a daily basis.

Bricycles- Bike Recycling in the UK. -establishing a recycling project for people who live in MHDC and the surrounding area. Yake any used/old/discarded/unwanted bike, no matter its age or condition. also take any unwanted parts and accessories, such as old locks (with a key/combination!), lights, bike panniers etc. The only things we cannot take are old bike helmets.
