10 Ways to Reuse Soda Bottles
Two liter bottles of pop can serve more than just a single purpose. Sure, they can hold beverages that are probably not the healthiest for you. However, there is a great deal of life left to be had once the final drop hits your glass. While some of these may seem a bit silly at first, you don’t really know how much use you can get out of them before the bottle’s days are done.
1. ) Miniature Green House – One great way to keep your seedlings going with little water is to create condensation. By cutting the tops off of two liter bottles and punching small holes in the bottoms, you can provide a makeshift green house for seedlings to prosper in. Just place the end that has been removed over the plant and secure it snug into the dirt. The moisture rising due to the heating effect within the bottle can put water back into the soil as well as provide some protection from predators.
2.) Or just reuse a plastic bottle as a drip system in the garden.
3.) Attracting birds is a good thing.. Make a bird house
3. ) Raft – How many two liter bottles does it take to make a personal raft? Capped two liter bottles are very buoyant and a few of them can support an average child. This can be a fun experiment in order to find out how much weight a single bottle can support. The difficult part of this experiment is tying them together in order to build a raft. Theoretically, enough of these could make an “unsinkable boat.” Each bottle compartmentalizes the buoyancy and could stay afloat even if a large portion of them have been compromised.
4.) Or just make a Barbie Boat
5.) Tornado in a Bottle – A fun experiment for young children is filling one two-liter bottle with water and connecting it to a second empty bottle. You can pick up these connectors at a variety of dollar stores and some science locations. If you are unable to find the connector for the two bottles, duct tape works wonders. Once you connect the second empty bottle, turn it upside down and watch the water create a vortex as it fills the empty bottle. For an added fun factor, add food coloring to the liquid before attaching the second bottle.
6.) Ice Packs – Instead of spending extra money on ice when you go camping or on a day-long pick nick, use a two liter bottle in the freezer. You want to fill the bottle about three-quarters of the way with water as the ice will expand. Capping the bottle in the freezer could cause the bottle to rupture, defeating the purpose of keeping food cold without the watery mess. Once the bottle is frozen, put the cap back on the bottle and load up your cooler. This keeps the goods cold and dry.
7.) Toilet Water Savings – Filling a two liter bottle and placing it in your toilet’s reservoir can reduce the amount of water that is used by the device. Toilets use a floater to control the shut-off valve and if there is mass inside the tank, each flush uses less water. This saves you money and helps conserve water simultaneously.
8.) A fun kids craft- make penquins
9.) Or make a Piggy Bank
Once the fun and games are over, don’t forget to deposit your plastic remains in the proper recycling bins. If we all did our part to encourage the propagation of the human species, there would be less trash filling our landscape and more recycled products renewing their functionality after being properly processed. You can have your fun, just end it with a responsible gesture.

As opposed to your articles, this one actually had a little bit of useful substance.
To make a flexible ice pack, you can mix 2 parts vodka to 1 part water in a bag. Vodka is also great for stinky feet. I know its off topic, but probably worth more as tips than the nonsense found here about bottles.
Think about this way..

When hurricane sandy was heading to our area I anticipating losing power at some point went through my recyclables and froze soda bottles , half & half jugs was able to keep my fridge nice and cold when giving the generator a break . Soda bottles are very handy .
Thanks nice post
Neat thank you for being creative and publishing something useful and inspiring that can help us with all this plastic in our lives. Also I use plastic soda bottles filled with rain water as weights for things like holding down tarps or in the trunk to add weight in the slippery situations…
Use #11 for empty soda bottles;
Turn them in and get your dime (yes, 10 cents each in Michigan) back.
